    I'm embarrassed. Negligent Discharge.

I'd like to extend my thanks to OP for this post. It was a post just like this one, and the generally positive attitude toward it, that convinced me to join this community years ago.

    Quickly grab your nearest firearm!

My Glock 27 is sitting on the end table by my couch. Right now I'm using a Glock 23 mag wearing the grip extension loaded with Winchester Ranger hollowpoints.

My first Negligent Discharge -hopefully my last

It was a post just like this one that first brought me to the High Road years ago from a Google search. The frankness of the poster and rational responses convinced me to stay and eventually even make a few comments. Makes me glad to see the thread play out the same way as my first with a mix...

Just how much it too much?

His name was Harold Fish. I don't have time to read the full story right now but I'll leave a link to a website dedicated to his case. http://www.haroldfishdefense.org/

How to Answer this Anti Point?

I think that relating the two would be a pretty false equivalence. Since the justices viewed the case with self defense in mind, their ruling makes sense, seeing that in my opinion a RPG or what have you does not give you the ability to target a specific threat in a controlled manner ( a...

What do I do with this gun?

If you are every in the Mobile area, Eddies gun and pawn makes a $100 for any gun offer once or twice a year. It's is not really a "buy back" because they then turn around and sell the garbage for a 300% markup. Saw an Iver Johnson .38 in Terrible condition that they were asking $300 for...

Sir Isaac Newton on handguns ...

I've been sitting here thinking about the 200 pound bullet. From the way I understand it you would get some movement on the rifle itself. In this case the FORCES applied are equal and opposite, so if the force applied to the bullet was enough to only move it marginally (not actually not move...

    Question about Illinois from out-of-stater.

Thanks a lot everybody. That was the confirmation I was looking for. I had seen similar info on the NRA site but other posts on other forums were so full of misinformation that I figured I'd ask. Knew I could count on y'all. Thanks again.

    Question about Illinois from out-of-stater.

I asked HR and they have told me I would be an Alabama resident with no address change and still paying alabama taxes. With that said my main concern is whether there is a legal way for a non resident to posess and transport ( not carry ) a handgun.

    Question about Illinois from out-of-stater.

I suppose most specifically I am wondering if I could transport it safely locked away and have it in a hotel room in a safe as I conduct business in different cities for several months.

    Question about Illinois from out-of-stater.

So, while I normally don't travel to places where I'm not comfortable with the laws, I'm in the position where a temporary move to Illinois is necessary for work. My question is as an out of state resident moving from hotel to hotel in Illinois (outside of the chicago area restrictions)...

Please help me choose a gun for my law enforcement career

I've carried a Glock 17 for 6 years now. Been shooting it for 12. The only malfunctions I've ever had have been related to a bad mag. There are lots of other excellent pistols out right now though. So, not being a LEO, and always carrying concealed, I care little about a manual safety. So...

Anything new you would like to see from Glock?

Coincidentally I had this conversation with a friend a week ago. We both agreed that a slim framed compact along the lines of a walther pps would sell great. Also a pistol caliber carbine using pistol mags (if they could keep it a bit cheaper than the cx4 storms). I would buy both tomorrow.

I'll second the breakage comment. Mine broke recently. Currently looking for a better replacement sight.

The .380 good or bad carry choice

I bought my p3at a year ago to ease carrying in formal attire. Now I take the thing everywhere I go. The downside is that where I used to strap on the Glock, now I may forgo it. So instead of adding to my versatility, it just tempts me to do without the more powerful handgun. Not a real...

Your Favorite Gun Shops in Ala

For C&R or milsurps in the Birmingham area, Birmingham Pistol Parlor in Tarrant ( just north of town ) has a very good selection. Racks full of Finn Mosins, Garands and K31s. Found a beautiful numbers matching walnut K31 and talked them down to 200 out the door about a year ago. Ask to talk...

October 2009 THR Poll: Do you have a concealed carry permit?

I'm a home state only guy but my Alabama permit carries me through every state that I visit on a regular basis. I just took my girlfriend to get hers for the very first time. I don't know who was more excited.

Is the ammo supply on the rise

Steve's Guns in Mobile Alabama had several boxes of 380 when I went in today. He says he keeps at least a few boxes around most of the time. I believe he wanted $26 or so for a box of American Eagle. He had Hydra Shoks but I didn't get the price. I haven't had much trouble with anything else...

    What's your everyday carry?

My daily carry is a Glock 17 in a Don Hume small of the back holster with 17 rounds of Corbon 115 +p. Also I never leave home without a Smith and Wesson folder and a cheap led light that slides in right beside my wallet and fits perfectly. Alternatively I will sometimes slip a Keltec p3at...
