If the badguy is close enough to grab the barrel its time to pull the trigger. I dont really see this as a warning against HD use of a shotgun. Even with an 18.5" barrel my spead is only about 12" at max HD distances , so that isnt really an issue. And although it might be easier for the bad...
For a ND or AD to occur due to this flaw you must depress the trigger with a round in the chamber , then apply the safety. Anyone that does that has no business with a gun anyways
It sounds stupid , but dont be afraid to ask if you or they can run a bore swab. If it comes out nasty ...... Chances are if its surplus it fired corosive ammo at some point , and if its dirty you might want to assume there may be some defects you cant see in that lighting.
The one time I had a rust issue , I oiled the gun real good and then used a plastic bore brush in a cordless drill to scrub ..... cleaned it up then re-oiled and never had a problem again.
I think the skills developed might be usefull as far as muscle memory and that stuff goes. But the training itself looked unsafe....... And yes borderline mall ninja , not the op himself just the training. I think the training was geared more toward participant fun then actual skills
They were fighting persians .... we fear them?
On a serious note , I think its the little guy standing up for whats right messege. Not a literal comparison
