    Dear Ruger,

Like bailer, I can probably hook you up with a 9.3x74R. Drop us a mail when ready. Curious - where are you in NC?

    Ithaca 12 gauge sxs help

Ithaca Lewis model, should have been made approx. Jan 1906, if my list is right. Check to see if it has fluid steel or damascus barrels, as they used both in that time frame. If they are damascus, or are pitted very much, I would make that one a wall hanger. Get it checked by a real deal...

    Recommendations on a O/U 20 guage

Big thing with shotguns is make sure the stock fits the shooter, since it is pointed, not aimed. I had one of the CZs, but could hit nothing with it. The stock was too long and straight for me, and I am 6', with long arms. Used guns are often better than the current crop of new ones for fit...

    pedersoli rolling block

I like mine, 45-70, but haven't shot it in several years. Good fit and finish, as I recall seemed quite accurate. If I recall this right, Remington used to sell these through their custom shop for about 2X the price. Mine had the open rear sight on the barrel, which I took off, and the target...

Powders you have given up on?

One of the most interesting and informative threads I have ever seen on the net. I find it odd that no one has mentioned WST and WSF. My go-to powders in 9, 40, and 45 lead loads. Now, if I could find a use, or better yet a sale, for the cans and cans of powder that never gets used anymore...

    10mm load 180gr cast

Never liked BD with cast bullets. Try Unique. For more data, remember you are loading 40 S&W in a longer case. The loading manuals have lots of 40 data.

    9.3x62 vs. 375 H&H

My CZ 550 American is great! 3 shot clusters at 100, 5 shots in 1 1/2 at 200 with most bullets. Recoil is more a push than a whack. No belt to possibly cause feeding problems, and 1 more round in the mag. Bullets aren't hard to get, see Midway. RL 15 is your friend, Varget is about as good...

Another M1 Carbine rear sight question - mine doesn't fit

See all those punch marks in your second pic? That is where the military put in a sight and then staked it in place. I would tighten the slot with some very careful peening, clean everything to complete dryness, then use some blue Loctite as I installed the sight. Don't think I would stake...

    6.5x55?

My standard hunting load in my M70 FW sends a 140 out at 2730, from a 22 inch bbl. I would think 120s should go a bit faster. Never worked any loads up for those, that 70 has a looooong throat. .

    Pre-WWI vintage M1903

Shoot a Low Number? Bear in mind a few things. Only the Army seemed to find a problem with low number rifles, the Marines used them from 1903 to the early part of Vietnam (as snipers). The Marines did a heck of a lot more range time than any other branch, as well as fighting small wars in...

    45-70 microgroove & cast bullets

Had one, late 70s - early 80s. Shot well with jacketed bullets, not so good with cast, and I tried a number of molds, loads, etc. Even tried wrapping cast bullets with Teflon pipe tape to make them hold the rifling. That one also liked to let cases pop past the cartridge stops, so they would...

Garand shopping at the CMP North Store, what should I expect?

They should still have some really nice Garands. Carbines, wouldn't bet there are any. Just to see the store is worth the trip.

    1903-A3 Metal Clamp on handguard

One of my CMP 03s had paper shims under the band just for this. Worked well. The spring stop is SUPPOSED to hold everything in place, but sometimes, the wood shrinks, or gets worn down a bit, and the band gets loose. Try the paper shim trick. Quick. Easy. Free!

    Help ID 7mm Mauser Headstamp

Don't have a book handy, but might it be Republica de Domenica, made July 1957?

question about dark brass after polishing, also old .45 ACP headstamp

That VPT probably was made in 41. I seem to recall reading that they had a bunch of Brens, and maybe some Maxims. May have even had some SMLEs. Along then, everybody was scrambling for small arms, anything that would go bang. I wonder if the Germans sent the Finns some of the arms they...

    L1A1 Range day

You need another scope. Changing the power should make no appreciable difference in the point of impact.

New K31 I had to show off...

Full length sizing is a must. Quick check: Make sure the serial on the bolt is at 12 o'clock with a round chambered. Brass: Get 284 Winchester, run it through the sizing die, and you have the toughest brass ever. 165-180 gr bullets. A lot of shooters swear by IMR 4064 powder, but several...

    Remington R1 1911: should i get it?

Funny, the local dealers had R1s every time I looked. Price tags seemed to run about $565, IIRC.

    W540, w296, & sr 7625

Check to Hodgden website as mentioned above. Lots of loads for 7625 in all the common pistol calibers. I've used it in several calibers, but has been a while. I recall liking it, metered well, burned pretty clean. 2 1/2 lb will load a lot of pistol rounds, well over 3000. Hope you scored a...

Help Wanted 30.06 rifle remington failure

Another vote for the CZ 550. Fit and finish is great. The single set trigger has to be tried to be appreciated.
