Remington 700 Police .308 (My Dream Come True)

I have a 700p also, really nice rifle. You have to do something about the scope though. I think the interals on your Centerpoint 4-16 are made of plastic. I bought and returned 3, if you mount it and dial the knobs up and down a few times your usuable elevation drops from ~56moa to ~30moa...

    North Carolina FFL's over-priced?

Use the gunbroker list. You didn't post your location and its about a 8hr drive from one end of our state to the next. In eastern NC I used a home based dealer that charges $10. It was free up until a couple years ago, when they had to start making long distance calls on some of the messy...

    Another Walmart Ammo thread

Not really newsworthy, most walmarts I have been have pretty every caliber now. HPs are a little harder to come by, they may only have in a couple calibers at a time. Unless you need to buy ammo in small quanites its pretty much a waste of time to shop shop at walmart for ammo now, as pretty...

Anyone satisfied with a cheap red dot?

PA red dots are pretty good. If they do fail it only has a 1yr waranty though. The Vortex Strikefire is lifetime. They are both pretty good.

    9mm AR-15 hammer.

You don't want to use the 9mm hammer. You want to buy a ramped bcg (several vendors sell them) or send your BCG to ADCO to be ramped. Then you use standard hammer with both uppers. This is what most people do now, even if you have no need for anything other than a 9mm AR.

DPMS LR308 reliability? Selling my M1A

DPMS LR308 is a pretty reliable platform. The trouble spots with it are more user problems. Will not feed soft point ammo, a lot of people buy hunting ammo locally to shoot which will not work. FMJ is fine, so that includes the cheap mil type 147 you see for plinking, match ammo is fine. For...

gunsmith / engraver in north fort worth

Most people take their SBRs to local jewelry stores and pay them $10-20 to engrave. In addition to the link above (they had a good rep), there is also Quentin Defense for a firearms specific engraving service. You are right, you want to have it engraved before paperwork comes back. Most...

    NEW AR-15 company??

Rocky Point is a local dealer and one of the bigger customers of Classic Arms. They basically buy the mil surplus and ak stuff from Classic and do the NC Gun shows when Classic got out of that. I've bought a few guns from them, they are usually classic prices or $10-20 higher. Shop is a whole...

    ACOG vs EOTech Range Report

I think OP missed the point of a 1x, which is target acquisition speed. Two equal shooters engage each other at same time, even at 100yds. The person with the ACOG has a bullet hole in their chest before they have time to center on target at 4x and fire. Yes, so its not as accurate it may be...

    Why the 5.7?

More likely legal in most states, no restrictions here. I know some states have 30cal an up restrictions, but many are do not have any, or are 22 and up.

    Why the 5.7?

7.62x25 is a pretty awesome round with very hot ammo. The tokerev is pretty nice also. You can't really find the good 5.7 rounds anymore. You can buy 7.62x25 in 1260rd cans for $86 that will defeat soft body armor, the same amount of lame 5.7 that will not would cost you $500. Not sure what...

My Local Gun Store is Against Concealed Carry

My guess is the same insurance carrier that does not restrict, say a Home Depot, but does a Gun Shop does so b/c the gun shop is in the business of selling of guns, customers are more likely to be carrying, more likely to handle their gun while inside the store..... the accidental discharge...

    Timing for ATF form order

Local PD here uses the FD-258 forms, most do. They are taking fingerprints to scan into federal databases.

    Ammo cost: .223/5.56 vs. 7.62x39

.223 steel case should be cheaper but it is not. Steel ammo price is pretty much equal. Reloadable brass 223/5.56 ammo is actually cheaper than 7.62x39. But as already brought up, I like most people typically shoot the $200-225 per case Steel in AK, and Shoot $300-325 Brass ammo in my AR. I...

    Entry Level Scope for .50BMG?

I put the Bushnell 3200 10x Tactical on mine also, I think it was $168 shipped. Glass is Japanese and actually pretty good. Most 50 BMGs do not get shot a lot, its not something you take out plinking all the time, to every range trip, send 200rds downrange each time its out, etc.... so I did...

    Private Online Gun Sales?

MO scam usually involves bank MOs. Everything with post office is federal level and they are very aggressive. If your into faking stuff I would think they would pick a bank MO. Never had a problem with them here, it is usually pretty nice to cash the MO and ship the buyer's item at the same...

    Bulgarian Ak-74 545X39 Cal for $395

I see $395 also. I also logged in on my dealer account with them and see $395. They are wholesale only... I think you have to have a dealer account to order anything. Seems like a pretty good deal.

    Timing for ATF form order

Most ATF forms are available online via their website in pdf format. Fingerprint cards are not. Pretty much all local LE uses the same fingerprint cards, if you go there and get fingerprints (free-$20) they will give you the cards.

Building a "gun closet" into my house?

Exterior doors should be fairly easy to go though, they are going through an exterior door to get into the house to begin with. You way want to look at doing a regular unsecured closet and "hiding" it somehow, like a hinged bookcase, mirror hung over the entrance, etc.

How do I get my gun back?

I think you have right to expect it should be returned. Not sure if its worth going to an attorney for given cost, I would try to be a squeaky wheel as much as possible to get it returned.
