    User Friendly Semi-Autos?

The Walther P99 sounds like a great choice. It is pretty good looking and is the standard sidearm of the Montreal Police.

    User Friendly Semi-Autos?

I disagree that I haven't given any substantial criteria and that racking effort and maintenance are minor issues, they are very important ones. All of the features listed by Sam1911 are secondary, except for the safeties which I mentioned already. But what is important also are reliability...

    User Friendly Semi-Autos?

I'm unfamiliar with this type of gun. Is there 1 that is easy to field-strip and easy to rack? Apparently, the 1911 has a 16 lb. racking effort:eek:, some have load indicators:cool:, and Glock has automatic safeties:cool:.

    Shades of gun bigotry

I was able to identify only 3 words in the poster posted by MinnMooney. The 1st word is Jud, as in Jew, the 3rd is people, and the last is probably Judaic.

    Shades of gun bigotry

Leftists are not liberals for the most part because they oppose freedom, including gun rights, victims' rights, and the right of self-defense, and some are even totalitarians. "Liberal left" is an oxymoron. And they are hypocrits because they pretend to be liberal and opposed to bigotry but...

Man shot in Jewelery store... in Canada

Jacques Savard has anti-social attitudes--he must be practicing to be a politician.

    Revolvers in pop culture

Yes, great link CorpITGuy. I have some DVDs o f the WWW and in 2 episodes I,ve seen they use a snub-nose revolver but the 1st snubby came out in 1927, 3 or 4 decades later. But it wasn't used by the heroes who had the Colt SA or a Deringer.

In all the older T.V. shows from Sea Hunt

I remember THE Cat very much so, that was "65 or so. We had it on CTV but it was unfortunately short-lived. I just recently, several weeks ago, saw some scenes on You Tube.

1911Tuner, I see ur point. Thanks 4 the detailed explanation.

    .44 Special Recoil

"Recoil is entirely subjective"-RidgwayCO. Recoil is only partly subjective, it is mostly objective. 1911Tuner makes a good point stating that some recoil is absorbed by recoil-operated semi-autos; I'm not sure felt recoil is measured. I'm not sure how good his point is about semi-auto...

In all the older T.V. shows from Sea Hunt

I'm at present viewing Charly's Angels' 2nd year on DVD and it was a black snubby they used, a Colt .38 Spl. I suppose. They wouldn't have it in 1 scene and then it would pop out in the next from nowhere whenever it was convenient! Love that show. Cheryl Ladd in a bikini, that's entertainment.

    .38 Super

I can take from your answers that there's no appreciable difference, at least practically speaking, between the 2. Thanks.

    .38 Super

There is a discrepancy in the data on this cartridge in Wikipedia. The 1st column is OK with the velocities going down corresponding to the heavier bullet weights but the energy column has the 3rd and 4th bullets at higher energies, 492 and 497, than the 1st row, 485, when they should be lower...

    .44 Special Recoil

We can conclude that it's no urban legend but it depends on the gun and cartridge variant. There is still a discrepancy in the .45 ACP recoil but I think Stainz' version makes more sense than that of Chuck Hawks. Thanks to all of you.:)

In all the older T.V. shows from Sea Hunt

Someone at IMDB says the Tightrope gun that he had "on the small of his back" was a .38. Seeing as it was a small gun this suggests it was a snub- nose revolver so maybe I remember it wrong. The show is available on DVD after all and it's 1 I was thinking of getting so I might order it and I'd...

Revolvers were used on last night's Numbers because they were playing Russian Roulette. 1 might have been a Python.

I don't remember what gun he used in Mannix but I checked youtube and there was only 1 clip of Tightrope and there was no gun in it and it's not on DVD or VHS.

Tightrope comes to mind. Mike Connors played an undercover agent around 1960 and he used a small semi-auto he placed on his waist in the rear where it was well hidden. It's the only show I can think of from that era that had a semi-auto. I'm afraid I don't remember the make or model but maybe...

    .44 Special Recoil

Is the light recoil of the .44 Special only an urban legend? Since it has the same stopping power and weight and basically the same caliber and muzzle velocity as the .45 ACP which has an 8 ft.lb. kick u would think it has the same kick, 2, but is sid to be 4.5:confused:. Or is the low recoil...
