    Buying a safe

I bought a Liberty safe last year. Local store, delivery, etc. Most major brands of safes in the $1.5K to $2.5K range are OK; maybe the Sturdy and AMSEC safes are "better" for theft resistance, but "most" burglery events will not last long enough to open a safe if it is bolted down...

Death Toll in the Old West from firearms vs the unarmed East

Yes, the transients checked their guns; BUT the Townsfolk kept theirs on under their clothes. Double standard.

US Postal Service enforces gun ban in public parking lots

Funny. Last week I went into a hole-in-the-wall PO and the guy in front of me was carrying a revolver with the holster and end of the barrel quite obvious. I guess that there at least, no one cares.

    Moving to Upstate New York.

    1. 6 months residency. Outside of some cities and other bad spots, no problem with unrestricted CCW. 2. If they were made before Sept, 1994. Otherwise you may be able to trade them for pre-ban mags befores crossing into our Imperial State. You could also keep them if disassembled. No...

Most likely a stupid question waiting for a stupid answer...

Waiting for page 6. I'd pull on a vest with pockets for my spare 8 round magazine, NVGs and MREs. I can always find water.

    44 caliber...Rifles?

Are there any? I see that Civil War era revolvers are in .44 or .38 caliber, but all blackpowder Rifles seem to be .45 or .50 caliber or larger.

Word is the Dutch Police will be trading in their P5s in 2010. Should be a few available at a reasonable price here. Before the hyperinflation, that is.

    Gun safes

You have little chance of a fire and less chance of a theft. Get one anyway. The best safes are ones that accomodate your guns, and a few accessories/ammo. Sturdy safes are made of thicker than average steel; Liberty safes are widely available, etc. Browning has the best interiors...

Range report on the Walther P5

My P5 fires 7.62mm ammo! One day about 15 years ago, I accidently loaded it's little brother's cartridges into its magazine. In the middle of Massad Ayoub's training day, I switched mags, and had a single shot pistol. Worked the slide, and I fired another shot. On the third one, I noticed the...
