    .30-30 Disrespect?

I love my Marlin 30-30, and it is the gun I grab if I am going hunting and have not spent much time with my other rifles as I have used it for so many years.

    Down side to 30-06 ?

there is no downside to the 30-06, as it is a great round. If I were living in WA again I would opt for a 7mag so I would have enough for those long shots at Desert Muleys

    Texas?

Denton is a great town, and right on the edge of all of the traffic. No way in hades I would live in Keller with that traffic. Some outlying areas will be nice. Krum, Aubrey, Ponder, etc...

As a consumer what are you paying for gun transfers @ your local FFL

I've never did transfers when I had an FFL. I told people if they wanted my services, then they needed to order through me. I offered to get them the gun at the same price as long as I was not taking a loss. Most of the money I made was selling them the accessories that went along with the...

Multiple guns on the shooting bench, not good?

I like to be organized when I go to the range, so only the weapon and ammo I am using is on top of the bench. Everything else is in my bag, case, etc. When I want to change weapons, I box up everything, then take out what I want to shoot next.

    Gainesville Gun Show Warning

seems to be the norm here lately. I ran into a curmudgeon couple of weeks ago at our and it cost him a sale, as I just purchased the same gun a few days ago. I will say my 11 year old son loves going to them, yes for the jerky and the loves seeing the actual weapsons he uses in Call of Duty...

    concealment shirts

I carry on the outside also, and wear mostly untucked shirts to conceal. Most are flannel, T-Shirts, Sweatshirts, Hoodies, Florida Tourist, etc... not really all that hard. I just wear a quality wife beater underneath.

    Kids and guns

yes, like most here... I grew up with guns and they were never locked up and ammo was in the drawer right below the gun rack. I've been teaching my 11 year old for several years via BB gun, then real gun, etc.. He now has his own deer rifle, shotgun, and shoots my pistols with me. I believe...

    Grip/Frame Difference for 1858

The blue steel one was an Pietta, but I did not check the SS one.... my bad. I was just under the impression pretty much all Remmy's would be of comparable size.

    Grip/Frame Difference for 1858

Was at the local gun show yesterday and talking with a gentleman that had lots of BP pistols. All of the talk about the Remmy's got me thinking my Pietta Navy might need a Step Brother. Anyway, there were two 1858's sitting next to each other. One blued steel and One stainless, and both 44...

    Gun Show Curmudgeon

Let me add.. I NEVER called the man a Turd, I only commented to my son that the man was a Turd and we would find another table. Yes, probably not the best choice of words, but we all do get irritated when we are confronted by what we purceive as bad behavior.

    Gun Show Curmudgeon

The answer is no, I did not find a adequate .22 at the show. Let me say, that I don't like adequate, as it implies I am settling or compromising what I initally wanted. Before going to the show I told my son we were looking at the following 22's. 1. Ruger 22/45 - We ruled that one out...

    Gun Show Curmudgeon

I apologize with the name calling, not very high road. Those that disagree, my apologizes. Your right that may have been his policy no kids touching, but it is my policy not to spend my money with someone how has such a policy.

    Gun Show Curmudgeon

hari, your post speak volumes of a mentality like the curmudgeon. The guns are all cleared and locked open with zip ties. I am not aware that I needed permission to handle the firearms, since there were no signs or cards indicating as such. As I mentioned, I used to have an FFL and worked...

    Gun Show Curmudgeon

:( I used to be a dealer and have set up at shows before and know the etiquette. Those that don't want their wares touched put out signs if permission is needed. As far as setting an example, I appreciate your need to judge my character.

    Gun Show Curmudgeon

I'm not sure how the dealer wasted his time by coming up and saying what he did, as I never even got to look at the prices on each gun or ask a question. There were only two Buckmarks at the show in the configuration I was interested in, and one was at that particular table. The other was...

    Gun Show Curmudgeon

I don't think it was a rule of the show, as others vendors did not seem to have a problem when I was talking to them. It could be, but I could be wrong.... I would have expected to see some signage or something if that were the case.

    Gun Show Curmudgeon

My 11 year old son has been hunting and shooting long arms with me for a while, and over the last year have been introducing him to pistols as he has matured. Told him it was time to get him a .22 pistol, and that the upcoming gun show would be a good time to look at them and get the feel of...
