Has anyone converted their Walker with the Kirst Konverter to fire 45 Colts? I am starting to get the itch for a project like this on my Uberti after reading the new issue of Guns of the Old West. They did a great feature story about the guns of Lonesome Dove including the converted Walker...

Ok, THR members, where do you buy your real black powder?

Hey Poodleshooter.........that's an interesting handle you got there. How did you come about it? On Black Powder I still get mine at Bass Pro Shops in Mesa, Arizona. That is about the only place in the Phoenix area that I know of. Going to buy another 3 lbs today!!

Model 87 12 gauge lever gun

I am really intrigued by the Chinese made Model 87 12 ga. lever gun and am curious as to reliability. For some reason I had not seen one before until a gun show this weekend. If nothing else I am attracted to the way the dang looks - it just looks MEAN as hell and I want one !!!!! Any...

Noblesniper, Now that you posted those clips, I will have to get my Lonesome Dove set out tonight and watch it again.:) This has to be one of the best westerns ever - along with Tombstone (the one with Kurt Russell) and Open Range. I don't think anyone else could have nailed the part of Gus...

Ratdog68 & BCRider, It is all relative to where you are for a period of time and to what you adjust to. I grew up in Houston, TX which must rank second behind Florida for humidity. My memories of Houston are of rain, cloudy days, fog, bugs, and humidity. Arizona does not have near the...

I am going to try to get out to the desert this Sunday and pop a few caps with the smoke wagon before our Arizona temps climb up to the 110 - 115's and hang there for the next 4 months. June has so far been unusually cool and this may be the last weekend before we slip into the Arizona Summer...

Ok, THR members, where do you buy your real black powder?

Can't help you here in Arizona but the only place I know of to buy GOEX Black Powde is Bass Pro Shops. I just picked up 5 cans of FFg for the Walkers and .54 Hawken. Sooner or later, it will be "too dangerous" to sell.

Old Fuff, I guess you saw that the Walker #901 sold on Little John's Auction for $500. Someone got a super smokin' deal. Now that the auction excitement is over, the THR Walker community is "once again spinning in its greased grooves" (John Steinbeck)

I had all good intentions on bidding up to $1,000 for the 16 inch Walker but was at a business meeting away from my office computer. I tried to log on to my Blackberry to bid since I was preregistered with Little John's but waited too close to noon to do it. The auction site was asking me...

Aussie, Not sure if it is a 1st, 2nd, or Signature Series but I think the serial number, #3648, may be part of the listing; Lot#52 8IV-8 WALKER #3648 If all of this is true from Little John, and I have no reason to doubt it, I would love to learn more from Colt about this project...

    The THR Walker Club

I received a response from Little John's Auction House as follows and this is really going to raise the stakes - it is a Colt rebarreled and stocked by Colt !!! I am not sure what "non-factory" means, unless they mean not a standard production run, but here is their complete response...

Old Fuff, Yes, I definitely suspect there is a common thread here. The "What are the Odds Meter" is pegged out beyond red line. If these are Colt Black Powder Walkers and were truly modified by Colt, the auction bidding will be a nail biter to say the least. I can't wait to here...

Sltm1, Sure, I will see what the "Area 51 WalkerWorks" secret lab can create for you, but it will be later today because I am editing some golf tournament photos and commercial property photos that I have to finish up for clients for delivery by Tuesday. It seems like I spend all of my spare...

Old Fuff, Ok, I think there may be a trend here: "LOT 312 Colt New Black Powder Series Walker, .44 cal. percussion, barrel sent back to the factory to be re-crowned and shortened to 3/4", blue and case hardened finish, wood grips.......... I am wondering if the Lot#52 Walker was sent...

GOTC, Yes, you are correct in that I may have rushed to justice with a comment about "someone running with the idea" based on the alleged description of it retaining approximately "95 to 98%" bluing (however, a "used" Walker could have been used). I am not suggesting that someone...
