The 6.5 Grendel was an attempt to get greater performance out of an AR lower rather that designing a new cartridge and rifle from the ground up. I doubt the military will adopt it because it won't work well in belt fed machine guns. Civilian adoption of the is being hurt by the lack of ammo...
Does anyone know any manufacturers who made ARs before Sept 13th, 1994? (Aside from Colt and Bushmaster)
I was already looking at Eagle Arms (I believe serial numbers below 14,000) and Olympic Arms however I wanted to know if there are any others.
Has anyone compared the three systems side by side? If so, what system is best in terms of cost compared to durability and accuracy.
I like the LWRC M6A3, however over $2,000 for an upper seems pricey.
I agree that the UMP-45 is most effective using burst/full auto with a supressor. Outdoors in semi w/o a supressor you're better off with an AR.
My question is not whether a PD would allow an officer to use a particular round, just which weapon would be more effective.
The nice thing...
SHTF: If you were a lone officer arriving on the scene of an active shooter incident at a school w/ 2 suspects armed with shotguns + pistols, would you rather have:
1) A 16" .300 Whisper AR w/ supressor + 200 grain subsonic JHPs.
or
2) A UMP-45 w/ supressor + 230 grain JHPs...
The cheaper .45 ammo is definitely a +, but the 300 Whisper offers more options with different bullet weights and velocities.
Would anyone chose a supressed UMP-45 over a supressed 16" .300 Whisper AR?
(for a SHTF gun).
It does appear that most LE Agencies have dumped their MP/UMPs for M4s, and that a SMG is only useful if you could take advantage of all its capabilities (full auto w/ a supressor). Even then a .300 Whisper can do everything a UMP does and more.
I thought a UMP conversion would be a...
From what I have read the 300 Whisper out-performs all pistol caliber subguns, and it only requires a new upper on an AR (it even uses .223 mags).
Does the H&K UMP-45 have any advantage over a 300 Whisper (other than cheaper and more available ammo)?
Les Baer is giving a 2.5" accuracy guarantee ay 50 yards for their HC 40.
Can any factory guns (like the Sig 226 Elite or the H&K USP Expert) match that?
I'm not carrying concealed, so size isn't an issue, and I don't carry any additional clips, so I prefer high capacity.
I picked a high end stock pistol to compare to a high end custom. I'm sure there are other options, those are just 2 that I prefer.
I tried a friend's Les Baer .45 a...
I was interested in a high capacity .40 or .357 for carry. The Sig P226 Stainless Elite in .357 is about $1350, while the Les Baer HC 40 is about $3,000.
I'm sure the Les Baer is more accurate, but is it work the extra $1,650 for a carry gun?
How accurate would the Sig 226 Elite...
1. Are the Hensoldt Fero Z24 scopes worth $380.00, or am I better off mounting a Picitinny rail with different scope?
2. Is the original G3 buttstock/forearm of better quality than the PTR furniture?
3. I wanted to change the pinned post-ban muzzle brake on my PTR. Are there any muzzle...
I have read several reviews of the Les Baer Super Varmint, all of which claimed accuracy below 1/2 MOA. There doesn't appear to be any other semi-auto rifles currently available that can match that accuracy for the same price.

I found this thread after a search, as I was considering the Schmidt & Bender Police Marksman 1.1-4x20 for a 16" AR patrol rifle.
Is it worth the $2,500?
What the closest 1.1-4 alternative for quality + features at a lower price?
Here's the link to the story on the Alexander Arms g-p upper, which is supposed to be more accurate than other g-p uppers because of the "PWS system."

I was considering adding a supressor at some point...
