WASR & GP WASR owners: Questions regarding Mag Wobble

The Bulgarian waffle mags cured all the wobbling problems I had. I did have to grind on the mag opening though. The area that needed grinding was around the mag latch. It was very apparent where to grind when trying to fit the mag. Not much metal removal at all.

    M24/47 worth getting? Opinions?

I like mine very much, alot smoother bolt than my M48. Also, the stock seems to be more ergonomic. If you decide to get one, check the left side of the receiver. Mine still has some faint markings from F.N..

I've never seen such a clean bore as my K31's

Yup, the plugs are where knots were. You see it alot on M39's .. The knots must make the stock weak.

    K-31 at Dunhams

Roger that, Dunhams Gp11 is a buck a shot and never on sale. On a positive note, I picked up a box of Wolf Gold 7.62 X 54 on sale for $8. It is $10 on the net and that does not include shipping. No Swiss 7.5 though. Hopefully they will carry that.

    Metal makeup of K31?

Chrome Nickel or Chrome Molybdenum. Most are the nickel. Look for a +CN or +CM stamp to tell what that individual rifle is.

    How-to hand pick a K-31?

Doing a test with the pic I have not been having much luck posting pics. Anyway this time it seemed to be a go. This is a 1940 K31 that was refinished with the blo and shellac mix. I refinished the first 3 that I got, but the last 3 I left alone. It is not that shiny in person. After...

    How-to hand pick a K-31?

Cracked butt, That is a nice beech stock, lots of grain. I would have probably mistaken it for walnut. What year is it?

    How-to hand pick a K-31?

First and last year production are getting a premium price from collector's. There are also the rifles that were sent to the Vatican. I imagine if they ever show up on the market, they would be worth more to collectors too.

    How-to hand pick a K-31?

If the rifle has been refurbed the year will be stamped on the receiver tang behind the safety. You can't go by color alone to tell walnut from beech. There are some light colored walnut stocks. Beech does not really have much of a grain pattern. It also exhibits little swirls or half moons...

    How-to hand pick a K-31?

Hand pick K31 Okay, ya want a K31. Are you going to shoot alot or just stand it in a corner and look at it? The reason I ask is alot of folks seem to want the earlier ones with walnut stocks. The walnut stocks do look better than the beech. In total production numbers, there were more K31's...

    Time For a "Real" Rifle

Wow, a thousand bucks. Alot of cash. You stated that some other rifles were out because of lack of quality vs. cost and ammo price. What do you feel is the quality vs. cost equation in a K-31 around a $100? Sure the ammo is a little pricey, but it's "match grade". How much is good quality...

    Ak-47

Saiga??????? Surprised no one recommended it. I know they are not being imported anymore, but you can find one if you do a little searching. I think the Dunhams here still has one in the rack. Think they are 230 bucks in 7.62X39. Alot cheaper than a wasr and better quality. You can always...

SKS Doubled! Was it the ammo, the rifle, or me?

Using cold or heat is not " a magic recipe" to free or assemble parts. Standard procedure in assembling machinery. When I use to build Die-Cast machines, we dipped brass bushings in liquid nitrogen. They would slide right into the bores of the platens and then lock right up when they warmed...
