.223 Scary full!!

What brass mfg are you using? LC (mil) brass can have less volume than commercial. It may require a lesser powder charge. Mil brass also have crimped primers to deal with. Most require trimming too.

This about volume is not true with 5.56 /.223 LC brass .... with 7.62 x51 it is true ....

Different brass will fill in different ways and to different levels.PPU and some other brands are thicker and will fill up faster than others.Varget is a great 223 powder,but there are loads listed in different manuals that go as high as 27 grains,and I haven't found any brass that will hold that much.I have a 223 set up for target/match shooting and I've found that it doesn't like heavily compressed loads.If you are shooting long bullets,you'll hear some pretty heavy crunching when you go much over 24 grains.
