I don't really know if this belongs here but it seems we might be plowing new ground after tuesday on what is and isn't acceptable speech.
Today I hear that one of the candidates proposes a 1/4 million strong civilian security force that is to be equiped and funded as well as the military.
Is this an end run around the Posse Commitadas? spell check
What would be the legal purpose of such a force when we have state and local LE as well as multiple federal agencys that seem to have ample authority?
Since most LE responsibilities are covered what would this new forces duties be?
Who would appoint this force and who would they answer to?
Is anybody getting scared yet?

It is unconstitutional on its face. The only law enforcement available to the Union is spelled out in Article I, Section 8, Clause 15, to wit:

The Congress shall have power ~ To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;

There is no other provision in the Constitution authorizing any other source of force to execute the laws of the Union. Barak Obama has only one thing in mind and it has nothing to do with the Constitution or his constitutional duties as President should he win.

Look at your rights and freedoms as what would be required to survive and be free as if there were no government. If that doesn't convince you to take a stand and protect your inalienable rights and freedoms, nothing will. If that doesn't convince you to maintain your personal sovereignty, you are already someone else's subject. If you don't secure your rights and freedoms to maintain your personal sovereignty now, it'll be too late to come to me for help when they come for you. I will already be dead because I had to stand alone. B.E.Wood

Which candidate proposed this (link)? How is this different from the National Guard?

Are you wearing a tinfoil hat right now?

Bush called for the exact same thing in his 2007 State of the Union address. It's just feel good rhetoric promoting the idea of national service in a time of war. Bush called for the creation of a volunteer "Civilian Reserve Corps" to ease the burden on the military. Bush said that the corps would function "much like our military reserve." The proposal "would give people across America who do not wear the uniform a chance to serve in the defining struggle of our time."

No tinfoil hat required with this guy. The truth is he does refer to a security force not a relief agency.
If he is making proposals that are those of GWB does that mean he is running as him?
Still haven't heard of a directive, or what this would be called nor how it would interface with the existing agencys.
A 10 division security force raised up on the US soil for use here should create some interesting questions for the candidate from any reporter worth their salt.

Reporters know that if they step out of line the man will come take them away...
Washington Times kicked off Obama plane for finale

The Washington Times
Friday, October 31, 2008

The Washington Times, which has covered the Barack Obama campaign from the start, was kicked off the Democrat's campaign plane for the final 72 hours of the race.

The Obama campaign informed the newspaper Thursday evening of its decision, which came two days after The Times editorial page endorsed Senator John McCain over Mr. Obama. The Times editorial page runs completely independent of the news department.

"This feels like the journalistic equivalent of redistributing the wealth, we spent hundreds of thousands of dollars covering Senator Obama's campaign, traveling on his plane, and taking our turn in the reporter's pool, only to have our seat given away to someone else in the last days of the campaign," said Washington Times Executive Editor John Solomon.

"I hope the candidate that promises to unite America isn't using a litmus test to determine who gets to cover his campaign."

Doesn't this begin to look a lot like history repeating itself. I understand that rabid gun hater Rom Emanuel is being considered for the role of Heimler.
A bitter party and race vowing to make right all the old wrongs and renew the peoples pride and status in the world.

We already have a civilian force. It's called Blackwater. Private contractors are becmoing more popular as a way of providing additional forces in security. Will this force replace the draft???

So is Obama a communist or a fascist? They are opposing political ideologies.
