Okay, now that I'm getting ready to load for my (not yet arrived) CMP Carbine, a question for you reloaders.

I saw military surplus brass at patsreloading.com, and had to wonder... does military 30 carbine have swaged primer pockets:what: that have to be reamed?

Thought I'd ask before I sign myself up for one more ornery task. :cuss:

Thanks, Gents!

In my experience most MB does have crimped primer pockets. Just swedge it with one of RCBS's tools and it'l work well. You can 'ream' the pocket mouth but its time consuming as the devil.

I've an M1A1, converted to M/2 configuration that I've owned since '67 that I've shot the hell out of....well over 50M.....maybe double that....using mostly 12.5 to 13.5 of 2400 and hard cast Lyman 120 gr. with a gas check.....Works like a charm.....Nearly all my brass is milsurp, given me in two pillow cases by a GI from Ft. Hood in the '60's......One thing about that MS brass is that it's kinda hard and after several loadings you either have to anneal it or toss it....I have never had brass split, but have had difficulty with it resizing to the point that it'd hold the bullet.
