I tried using the seearch function but it gave me some spiel about 3 word consistancy or other. I dont need a huge amount of attention but just a quick answer.

Do .308 bullets fit in 30-06 casings? And vice versa, do 30-06 bullets work in .308 casings?

AND if they don't, is their some easy fix to it that would make it work that I dont know about?

Go easy on me, I'm wanting to get into reloading and want to learn about some of the rounds I will contemplate reloading. Thanks for all the help.

Yes and yes. .30-06 and .308 Win. use the same bullets as do many, many more .30 calibers. :)

Welcome to the art/obsession of handloading/reloading! :eek::neener:

To help this make sense you need to know that with all .30 calibers, the bore diameter is .300" but the rifling is cut .004" deep which makes the bullet diameter need to be .308". If that's not the case then it's not a .30 caliber.

A .303 British or Savage and a 7.65 Argentine needs bullets of .311". A 32-20 and .32 ACP bullet is .312". All these are very near but not quite .30 caliber. There are many more oddities.

In other words, labeled "caliber" designations aren't planned to make much sense!

One of the few bullets that's really .300 is the 7.35mm Carcano...

And I've shot them in .308 Win rifles with pretty good results, too...
