Haven't seen anyone shot with one. I am a big believer in the round though. My patrol rifle (which I had to buy at my own expense) is a FNP90. If I had accepted the department issue rifle I'd have a Mini 14 and be provided ammo. If I had bought an AR in .223 then free ammo still. For what I specifically need in a rifle I think the FNP90 is a better tool. I simply wanted a rifle that was extremely compact for those times I have to carry one into a house while covering others conducting a search. That said I haven't even been interested in shooting the pistol because of ammo again. I use a department issued handgun because the ammo is free. I think FN would go a long way in gaining wide public acceptance of their pistol if they started a program offering them to departments across the country at extremely discounted pricing. Until then it is too much a niche product. A shame really.
A 223 pistol is not easily concealable. Still lots of power from a 9 inch barrel though. My 223 pistol is my truck gun, but my fiveseven is can easily go with me.
Certainly. From what I know most soft armor is rated for pistol ammo. If you want soft armor that'll stop a rifle round it gets very bulky, very fast and has to worn outside of clothing as opposed to under it.
That's 'cause no one has made an unbelieveable claim (in favor or against) about it yet.
Some folks just seem to be emotionally tethered to it (or another caliber of their choosing) and can't stand hearing anything less than gushing reviews of it. The silly claims about the 5.7's "abilities" are just as silly as those made about any other caliber.
While I see little value in the 5.7, I also see little value in the .577 Tyrannosaur and will not be buying guns chambered in either caliber anytime soon. It's just a preference and hardly worth getting all overheated about in any event.
I'm not put words in your mouth. The "blues picker" question was about the 5.7 pistol. I'm just saying to him that a pistol made for the 5.7 and a 223 are nowhere similar in size.
They make 308 and 50 BMG pistols as well, but that is out of the thread topic.
