Off center primer strikes

As stated in an earlier post, I just bought a new 642.
I like the gun very much and seems plenty accurate.
I noticed that the firing pin hits on the primers are quite a bit off center. Is this typical? Anything to worry about?

PS I did verify that the cylinder locks up before the firing pin trips; at least while pulling the trigger slowly.

Thanks

Jeff

Steve,

Thats what I'm hoping. It's brand new and seems to be in time. This is my first double action only revolver and I've never fired my other double action revolvers any other way than single action, so have nothing to compare to yet. Maybe there is just a little room in the chambers for the cartridges to jiggle and with the cylinder whipping around during rapid fire....

I'm going to try it again tonight with some different ammo and much slower trigger squeeze to see if it makes a difference.

The fired case that came with the gun is hit dead center.

My 642 seems to strike the primers pretty close to dead center, maybe just
slightly high/above the exact center, but very close. It has never failed to
go "bang" with any ammo I've fed it to date - and some of that was some
pretty lousy stuff (for pop can-plinkin).
