Oh no, looks like another CA mass murderer didnt bother get a mass-murdering permit. But all the victims obeyed the law! And that's what is important folks. You must obey the law, even at the cost of your own life. If the majesty of the law was diminished through disobedience, we would have bloodshed and chaos. Oh wait.

So now this doesn't actually appear to have been as a Post Office but rather some off site processing facility.

That is correct.

This was in the mail processing facility on Storke Road which is near the north end of Goleta between the 101 freeway and Isla Vista beach.

Sawdust

The last time this happened in MA, it was at a software firm. Ironically, one of the employees killed was a NH resident who had a NH CCW, but couldn't get one for that area of MA.

So he was defenseless, when in fact, if he had been armed, he could have possibly stopped the badly-aiming but spraying-with-AK software engineer who was on a rampage.

And he died.

Appr. 9:00pm pacific time last night. Woman shooter at mail distribution center in CA. Shot 7, 6 dead, plus then killed herself. Ex-postal employee.

By now wouldn't you think they'd be encouraging people to carry legally? If nothing else, maybe to reduce the body count when something like this happens?

Instead of figuring out which gun to ban next, they should be making companies (yes, even the government) with no-guns policies liable for their workers saftey. If they're going to ban the best means of defense available, then they should be able, and willing, to gaurantee their safety.

Yes, that's what matters. Better to be dead and obedient than to be alive and a hero for saving your fellow co-workers.

As a CA resident this is something that is an issue for me every single day. Fortunately Seecamp is kind enough to make a California-legal model, even though there are only 45k people in CA licensed to carry. Hmm, I wonder who is buying the California Seecamp if only 45k people have permits?

This will only spur on tighter gun laws.

Its like a chinese finger trap.
Their meathod to "stop" shootings with more laws only makes them more common. Its because these people are too far removed that they just cant grasp the basic mechanics of whats actually happening on the street level.

You know... thats a damn good idea.
This sounds like a job for CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT!

I wonder whats cheaper; employees armed with personal protection, or an adiquate level of security bought from another company.

"Im sorry sir, a $50 a month ADT alarm at the door simply will not do. We require swat officers with machine guns".

Is that true in this case for sure? Can you verify that none of the victims were legally allowed to be armed at the time of the shooting.

(I think that's a powerful argument, I just want to confirm it 100% accurate.)

That said, you take a buncha military vets, and put 'em in a bureaucracy run by petty civilians, and you're gonna have friction.
Well small thanks, at least this time it wasn't a vet. Maybe this will be a catalyst for some CCW reform, but I doubt it, (Especially since it is fed.gov land.) I absolutely dare the antis to make a gun control issue out of this as it theoretically should never have happened here in Cali.

It is my understanding that folks with licenses/permits/whatever can carry in Post Offices as long as their states don't forbid it.

I'm not sure about California, but the good folks in Columbus (OH) chose to forbid it.... :cuss:

From what I heard, this incident started in the parking lot - anybody's guess about being able to carry there....

Once again, the futility of disarming law-abiding citizens, and the stupidity of banning guns because people flip out once in a while. :fire:

Regards,

It's caused by the mail. It keeps coming and coming and coming...........after awhile you stick your hand in the sorter or you take it out on your co-workers.

a friend of mine works for the post office, so does him mom and dad, I think that household will just spontaniously explode one of these days.

I live about a mile from where this happened. The local news just reported that the woman was on medical leave for psychological problems. She drove up here from New Mexico, where she'd been living the last two years. The Sheriff reported that she used a 9mm and reloaded at least once.

If there were any "legally" armed victims someone fumbled on situational awareness.:uhoh:

The Sheriff report she used a 9mm and reloaded at least once.

Well that should put the .45 vs 9mm debate baby to bed once and for all.

She drove up here from New Mexico where she had been living for the last two years.

Driving all the way from New Mexico to shoot someone certainly demonstrates intent.

Unfortunately, the Brady trash will likely blame the problem on New Mexico's gun laws rather than California's draconian victimization encouragement laws.:barf::rolleyes:

Get ready for 3 round fixed magazines in CA.

gbran, you are a bad man. You made me think a bad word when I read your post. Shame on you.

Only because I'm worried one day it will be true.

Warning for residents
The Monday night rampage sent dozens of employees running from the sprawling distribution center and prompted authorities to warn nearby residents to stay indoors.
