I just recently bought a Remington 870 Wingmaster. It's an older one, has a 28 modified barrel--no chokes. I got a great deal on it and it's in nearly perfect condition. My question is about removing the plug. I can see some green plastic thing when i remove the cover to get the barrel off. I was wondering how to get that plug out so i can load more than 3 shells.

Thanks

The plug is removed from the "muzzle" end of the magazine. I believe what you're describing is the follower. Older 1100s generally have a stamped metal spring retainer on that end that is simply pried out of the magazine. I use a screw driver wrapped in a shop rag and work it around the hole in the center while gently prying it up. The plug should be "in" the spring. Be careful, as the spring is under tension and will exit the magazine tube with some velocity if not restrained.

Many of the plugs are green plastic so I'd guess that's exactly what you see under the retainer/cap. The retainer can be worked out by careful application of a screwdriver. Be careful not to launch the spring/plug into your eye, pet, lamp or window. I do not use that retaining cap once it's out by the way. It does not affect the function of the gun at all.
Congrats on a fine acquisition.

peice of cake getting it out. I just did on my fathers 870 wingmaster. unscrew the threaded cap in front of the magazine. (At this point you will notice you can remove the barrel for cleaning, congrats.) then pry out the metal retainer (which is only their to keep the spring from coming out when removing barrel and is not esential any other function). take out spring and plug will slide out.
