All my Ar's have 1-9 twist, from stainless bull barrels to chrome lined h-bars, to chrome lined m4's. I have always been able to get 1" to 1.5" MOA at 100 yards out of them using 50 to 55 grain v-max or 40 and 45 gr noslers, Ive even went up to 68 grain HP, and many others, all differnt powders and charges and have only gotten 3/4 or better MOA every now and then. I have good optics so factor that out. my question is this, what bullet, powder and charge, brass, and primer are you using,YOUR MOST ACURATE ROUND. And how do you clean your barrel, like what do you use to decopper, what do you use as a solvent, and how often.

I forgot to add. I am asking from a benchrest prospective.
(and my most consecutive accurate load so far is a 55 gr V-max with 25.5 gr of BL-C(2) with CCI primer, and winchester .223 brass)

Huh. I have a penny-ante vignette, but I dunno as how it's helpful. I picked up a Bushmaster Match Target that was 1/2 MOA with most any 55-grain bullet and with blunt-nosed 70-grain bullets. This was all from my front-porch benchrest. Commercial ammo, except for the ancient 70-grain reloads.

Bad luck on barrels? Need to do better on consistency of your sight picture? No way to tell...

Best luck,

Art

while im not shooting 'benchrest', i shoot pretty decent HP scores with 69 and 80g SMKs and varget. 80g SMK and 24.3g varget is an awesome recipe

as for cleaning... i clean at the beginning of the season (sometime in february) and i clean it again after camp perry (august). other than that, i don't screw with it.

i hold with those who think it really doesn't matter how you clean it, as long as you clean it the same way every time you clean it (assuming 1st rnd hits are a requirement. if you're shooting something where you get unlimited sighters, then even that doesn't matter)
