I collect older Weatherby's. I have a couple German Sauer produced Mark Vs in .300 and .257, and a German Varmintmaster .224.I have a .378 on the Schultz and Larsen action from about 1962.I also have a Southgate Addressed FN mauser in .270 Weatherby from the middle 50's. But this one I just found in .375 Weatherby is by far the oldest one I've found .With a 3 digit serial number beginning with a 9 it dates from the mid/ late 40's when Roy Weatherby could not obtain Mauser Actions due to wartime closure of plants. He used what he could get. This is a radically worked over Springfield 03 action , restamped Weatherby and Marked .375 Weatherby . It was scoped in the late 50's with a Weatherby Imperial scope 2 3/4-10 (actually a Nickel of Germany) frome the old Noske 2 3/4 it had on it. It was restocked in the 80's locally by Western Gunstocks. I have the slightly cracked original stock and the old Noske scope which has a damaged reticule. But it is a VERY nice shooter/hunter as is. It has a very skinny barrel for a .375 , which is why it jumped out of the original stock. I took this picture at the estate sale before I bought it for $450.
