I went to the range with a friend Friday evening. Though I've known him for years, this was the first time I've ever been shooting with him.

After shooting a very impressive group, hands me his Sig 229 for a try.

I had never shot a Sig before.

Shooting at a 3" diamond target at 30 feet.

Two 13 round groups fired.....each target had 9 or 10 rounds inside the top half of the diamond with the ballance just below the diamond.

What a tack driver!

He had Hogue grips on, that made the pistol much wider than I would personally want to carry, but man oh man, that puppy can shoot.

I first experienced the tack driver from a pistol in the USP 40. I later got the same experience from the XD45 Tactical. One of these days I got to take some shots with the Sig that the guys I shoot with rave over.

Now I am hoping that my new USP Tactical 45 gives me the same experience tomorrow when I get to shoot it.

I put on a set of CT Laser Grips and a set of MMC Night sights. Now my puppy can shoot no matter what.

If Sig and HK would just put decent triggers on their guns, no one would buy anything else. :)

sigs are nice, i don't typicaly like da/sa guns but i would definetly look at the dao models for sure. they are accurate and nice all around that is for sure. glad you had funa nd sounds like you did some good shooting.

The 2 Sigs that I have had were the 239 and 245. Both were sweet shooters. I traded the 239 for the 245 but found it a little bulky for a 6 shot single stack .45.

I eventually traded it to a friend for his Glock 27. He still has it and carries it daily, so I still get to shoot the ol' 245 from time to time. ;)

** Edit to add: He is under explicit orders not to trade or sell it w/o coming to see me first. lol
