I used to have a Charter Arms 9mm revolver, this gun had to use the ejector rod every time when unloading cases, and was difficult to load some ammos as well, I sold it .But now I am considering to buy a Ruger sp 101 9mm or Taurus 905 9mm revolver, I would like to ask if either one of two guns has the same kind of problem? Why seems 0.38 revolvers don't have such a problem?

Thanks.

I have a SW 929, but that's a competition styled gun with a 6.5" barrel (actually I cut off the extra 1/2" on mine). But I just throw the moon clips at it like Jerry Miculek. Then I pick the moon clip up off the floor, blow it off and put it in the cylinder. it does just drop in though, well unless I bent it when I try to imitate, JM. Extraction is smooth and easy, There is just a little force require to start it but the moon clip just pops right out and falls on the floor, where either I, the Range Officer or the score keeper will step on it. The 929 is a titanium cylinder so it's not quite as smooth as a steel one, but keeping it clean and only firing standard velocity rounds I've had no problem.

All that said, I bet you were looking for something smaller, more in the self defense line. Possibly something without clips? They're always gonna be slightly less reliable and less fun than a moon clip version. For an EDC I'd just stick with a .38/.357 in a revolver. They're made for each other just like 9mm pairs well with an auto and white wine with fish.

I'd bet you're not going to get a lot of first hand responses, well because I don't think small 9mm revolvers are all that popular, so the possible universe of responders is going to be small. may be wrong. frequently am.

alfsuave, nearly had a coffee launch with your 'toss it in the cylinder' line!
'9622, having the empties fall out of the gun is not the norm, regardless of caliber. Realize that some pistol caliber revos use alternatives to moon clips, which may or may not firmly grasp the rim for ejection.
Fully agree with LiveLife, moon clips are a better solution; you'll want some tools to moon and demoon, but they are worth the hassle for the convenience of the moons.
The Smith 940 is the gold standard for small 9mms; it is out of production, so you need to go looking. Got mine on Gunbroker; no drama at all ejecting the moon. One caveat; small 9mms have a surprisingly sharp recoil. Loaded some 147 9s to solve the problem. This simply isn't a problem in larger 9mm revos, like my 986.
Ruger and Tarus still make smallish 9mm wheel guns.
But beware going down the pistol caliber revo rabbit hole. No need to ask me how I know this.
