aftermarket bolt-hold open for the 10/22?

Does anyone make one that's affordable? I teach a lot of people with my 10/22 and I hate having to spend 5 min. per person explaining the terrible bolt hold-open mechanism on the stock 10/22...

anyone know of any affordable replacements (sub-25 dollars)

It takes about 5 minutes with a Dremel tool.

You can do it yourself also. I bought one because it's cheap an I've had some, uh, mishaps with dremels before (plus it came with a VQ hammer kit I got).

The five minute dremel job is to make the bolt release with a pull of the handle, as Mark from Iowa stated. If you are talking a mod to hold open after the last shot, thats a whole different thing.

Yes there is an aftermarket part made to do this, a bolt release, the only drawback is you have to use specially modified magazines. I understand if you use standard magazines they will be damaged.

I would love to have it hold back after the last shot, but the mod considering the cost in problems associated with it are not worth it in my opinion.

I agree. modding multiple parts is not my idea of fun and increases teh change that my gun will not go bang.
