I have always been of the understanding that long guns could be ordered at age 18 and shipped to a licensed FFL to transfer them. I had a local dealer send a copy of their license to AIM Surplus and was ready to order a rifle and have it shipped to them, but to do so you have to check a box saying that you are at least 21 years of age. I'm 18. Is this box there to cover all bases for people ordering handguns and ammunition, or is there something I've missed and you have to be 21 to order a rifle?

Thanks

Would I be breaking any laws or getting anybody in trouble if I checked the box? All I'm ordering is a rifle, and I could get a rifle at any local store in all of 10 minutes.

I would imagine if it is a corporate form, no. If it is a federal form like a 4473, then yes...

I'm not going to tell you what to do; but I would click it and move on in a heartbeat. You are legal to order the thing, carry on.

If they say NO, have the gun dealer order it.

My guess is if it's being shipped to an FFL they really wont' care. They are only responsible if they ship it to a person directly, which they aren't supposed to do with guns anyways.

I e-mailed them and asked. Bryan Flannigan (VP and the guy that posts over on the AR forums) responded and said it's ok as long as it's being shipped to an FFL for the transfer.

Thanks guys
