AK Muzzle brake

The KX3 does away with threaded collar that holds in the cone (cone itself is threaded). It is basically an improved Bulgy 4 piece. Look at the weight. 7oz for the KX3 and the Bulgy is 7.5 +.5 for thread adapter. The added weight out front is just too much IMHO. They are kinda long too. I sold my Bulgy and got an FSC47. The KX3 and Bulgy are also muzzle booster that increase back pressure in the gas system. The standard AKM is already over gassed.

Here's a great comparison done by yours truly.
Slant: Notice the tiny flash at the tip of the slant brake. Recoil is straight backwards.

AMD-65 Brake: Notice the not so tiny flash at the end of the brake. Definitely reduces the recoil and directs the blast.

This video is a comparison of having, no brake, slant break, and ak-74 style: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbGixCAb0B8

An oz might well be worth it. I wouldn't put either on a 16" barrel but I have a short barreled gun that I am trying to decide what muzzle device to put on it. The noise, blast, and fireball that come out of it right now is pretty absurd. I'm not sure that even with the very short barrel I want to run either of those devices because of their weight and length. I think I will try a cheap A2 and then perhaps a vortex. The one on my AR eliminates all flash.

Well, it just so happens that my employer has its own machine shop, and material. And I have a 14x1mmLH tap, so i'm going to experiment and see how it goes. Quick question; would an 8mm hole be sufficient enough for clearance? Or should I go bigger?

so is the muzzle brake that comes on the Arsenal SGL rifles the real deal or just for looks? If it isn't where do you get a functional brake?

My limited with the Kreb's A2 flash hider is that it's a good all-around budget muzzle device. It reduces muzzle flash to a few sparks on a 16" barrel and has reduced muzzle flip like the slant brake.

Muzzle Brake Done!

So I had a guy at my employer's machine shop manufacture a Muzzle brake i had designed. however, he messed up and milled the lower part of the opening. so no it looks like a '74 muzzle brake. the original design called for a 1/2" hole drilled through the side, then a 1/2" milling from the center of the hole up through the top. but I didn't complain, considering it was free and i was grateful he was even doing it at all. but overall it came out nicely.
