AK47 safety, CZ 22lr ultralux safety, serbu 50 bmg safety

Hi guys,

Please correct me if I'm wrong;

1. AK47 such as MAK90 & E European models have no firing pin safety. The safety lever only prevents pulling the trigger and racking the slide to chamber a new round. If a round is already chambered and the weapon is dropped, you could have an accidental discharge, even with the safety on.

2. Serbu BFG 50 BMG has no firing pin block safety. If a round is chambered and the gun is dropped, you could have an accidental discharge.

3. CZ 22 lr ultra lux has a firing pin block safety. If a round is chambered and the gun is dropped, you could NOT have an accidental discharge.

The CZ .22 LR bolt rifles have a safety that locks both the bolt in the closed position and the striker in the rearward position, and can only be engaged when the striker is "cocked". So yes, the safety does indeed prevent the striker from moving forward under force.

Don't own the other designs so I can't comment.

Edit: BTW you should definitely get at least one CZ rimfire

The AK's firing pin is short and light, and if you use the correct (hard) primers you will not get a pin-inertia slamfire without dropping the rifle off a tall building onto concrete...and then only if it lands muzzle-down.

The firing pin of any rifle using a floating pin design hits the primer every time the action cycles, which is why 7.62x39mm primers are made harder than those of, say, .30-30.
