Alternative gun storage

I have read the threads where lockers and security cabinets are rated adequate to stop kids and casual thieves to the opinion nothing stops a pro thief. My situation is more to keep kids and casual thieves from just walking away with my stuff.

My question is what else have y'all used to secure your guns with? I am looking at truck tool lockers that IMHO look ideal and tougher than some of the locker type gun cabinets. Not made for guns but definitely made to keep stuff out of reach and secure.

A decent cable lock could be what you're looking for depending on circumstances, especially if the gun(s) has a removeable magazine; attach the plate to the wall/buulkhead/chassis/stud/joist etc, pull the mag, lock the slide or bolt back and loop it through the receiver and lock. Would work best with some sort of primary security/concealment, e.g. a trunk gun or in a closet.
