If you go "back a few tears ago" the main culprits I reference were not on the court. I.E. Kagan & Sotomayor. They have publicly stated the SC decisions were in error and that they would reverse the decisions of Heller and McDonald. I take them at their word. One more confirmed nomination in the vein of Kagan is all it will take.Ok, reference an instance of this occurring with the current court? Where have they outright overturned a SCOTUS case decided only a few years earlier?
It is not unusual for a 'conservative' nomination to flop to the liberal side, (Sandra Day-O'Connor comes immediately to mind) but it is extremely rare for a 'liberal' to flip to the 'conservative' side. (Can't think of any off hand.) Then there is the occasional justice like Kennedy that are neither. And both.
I repeat: I take them (Kagan, Sotomayor and their ilk) at their word and that they will do as they say at their first opportunity.
