any M1/30 carbine users out there? SOUND OFF!!

:) i dont have a left over /from the war 30 carbine but a p-field one it shoots good in 98 % or better cond ...what can u tell me that i have to have w/ this.what do/ have u done to make yours..YOURS?..
 
I had a 30 Carbine by Rock River Arsenal. Modern receiver built with USGI parts. It was a POS. I sold it, but held onto my mags and ammo. I foresee an IBM in my future; just waiting for CMP to list more service grade rifles.
 
I've had four,one Iver Johnson copy,and three GI's.None at the moment,and in California,they're spendy,and hard to come by.Great little guns though.
 
I have several. One all original with the original flip sight and high fore end, no I cut IIRC. One all original with the common rear sight, this is my shooter. One all original M1A1 paratrooper. And one de-milled M2 that was turned SA only. Would love for NFA to be ruled un-const. by SCOTUS, but I'll keep dreaming of turning that back to as original. That's one that is never gonna happen.

As you can tell I love history, and each milsurp has a history and a story. I prefer to leave my history in tact for the future.

I like my M1 Carbines to be as close to original as possible. I do not like to make them look like a tactical assault rifle. I have three...Two Winchesters and my beloved Rock-Ola..........:D

I have an "Underwood" I bought as a dealer years ago for $135.00, I had an FFL back before brady came along.

I wish I could get a couple more at that price, but I don't see it happening.

I've got an early Inland mixmaster that I picked up from the CMP.

Sadly, I only shoot mine once a year at the M1 carbine match at Camp Perry.
 
I have a pair of them, a Rockola sn 6,1xx,xxx and an Inland sn 6,8xx,xxx both in near mint condition. They are more fun than a barrel of monkeys to shoot. One thing I will say about the M1 carbine, those folks that say they are inaccurate probably coudn't hit the broad side of a barn, if they were inside of it. I wouldn't take them to a range longer than 200 meters but both of mine can hold all shots within a six inch circle at a hundred. One of the most fun plinking rifles I have had the pleasure to shoot.:D
 
I've got a Universal copy. I replaced the broken Iver Johnson plastic folding stock with a nice walnut one, and fixed a few other things to get it shooting. Not very 'tacti-cool', but I did become pretty familiar with it, and I like it.
 
I have an IAI reproduction I bought about 6 or 7 years ago. I paid $380 for it new....great little gun. Shoots my lead bullet handloads just fine. It is my truck rifle when I travel. Love it.
 
you can put an ultimak rail on it and a dot scope. if you wanted to do something. I might jsut invest the money in ammo and have fun though.
 
I've got an IAI M1 Carbine. Flawless shooter, I'll be buying more mags for it and some reloading dies soon. Also I will probably ditch the M2 carbine stock for either an M1 or M1A1 replica stock.

I bought an Auto Ordnance M1 last week and shot it for the first time today. I had several problems. The magazines are difficult to fully seat in the rifle, and I had ejection problems. I did have 2 different brands of ammo and one brand worked better.

Should I expect a breaking in period or are these problems typical?

Is anyone else having similar problems?

I own a Rock-Ola, and a Winchester. The Rock is a better rifle. They are great little guns that are a blast to shoot. I noticed recently that they are sky high in price now. Too bad I love mine. I could use the money. I made some five round mags and its a great little up close bobcat and yote rifle. And contrary to the experts, Ive killed quite a few deer with it cleanly.
 
I have a winchester that is the typical arsenal rebuild. 1,0022xx barrel 10-42.
Everything inside winchester but the sear. Has the typical arsenal birch m2 pot belly stock, adjustible rear sight and that bayonet lug. I have not fired it yet as the barrel is still full of cosmoline. Need to get more mags and more ammo for it.
Very fun little rifles.
 
I would love to get one if it was priced reasonably. I'm not a "pure" collector, I tend to see the utilitarian side of things.

I'm not willing to pay $900 for a M1 Carbine when you can get a brand new AK for under $400 or a used .30 cal full power rifle in very good condition for even less (actually around here you can often get a Remington bolt on sale with a scope for $299)

At $300 or less I would get one Carbine in a heartbeat...original or a similar replica (I mean same caliber, semi-auto) I dont care.
 
Got a Universal!!! Can I hang with you guys??? Just kidding, I would like to get a real one. This one just fell in my lap. Shoots well enough. had to un-stick the gas piston in it to turn it back into a semi auto. It was a straight pull bolt action when I got it.
 
I have an IBM, put a Choat stock on it and a red dot sight. Makes a nice little shooter, lots of fun, If I could only get it away from my wife, I would like it a lot better. She seems to think it is hers now.

Anyone know where I can get one for me now?:D
 
I've had three. An Iver Johnson, a USGI, and an Auto Ordnance. I only have have the AO now, and I'm very pleased with it. It's been 100% reliable. I keep it loaded with Remington's SP cartridges, as my HD rifle/carbine.
