I'm curious to hear from anyone who WANTS to join in the rush and get their first EBR but cannot find one.

I thought about a fancy AR-15/Ar-10 but just got an SKS. It was $150 and I am just going to buy ammo with the other money that was left. I think there are still plenty of EBR's out there but they are just way overpriced.

I don't know what the problem is. The gun shops around me have a few, the gun show I went to had about 50, and then 40 lowers.

If I were you I would just contact all of the dealers around you and keep looking. You will find an EBR that you like eventually; unless it is some rare gun that we couldn't get before the election.

I have a couple of lowers, but no uppers yet. I should have a Rock River upper comin' down the pipe here pretty quick, though.

My son is in the process of building one from scratch and he told me there is a 3 month wait on some of the components.

I'm sort of looking for one, up $400 in 2 weeks, are you freaking kidding me? I hope it settles in down in a few months, and before obama gets his hands on them.

you can always go to a gunshow and justbuy a stripped lower, parts kit and complete upper. dont pay for it complete, just build it yourself.

Please can we quit panicking now seriously. Obama doesn't take office till January and banning any type of gun related article while on his agenda, is not his top priority right now. Please take a deep breath and tell yourself its going to be alright. Hey I don't like the man at all but he's not going gung ho for guns right now. Now back on topic there is still plenty of lowers out there at good prices so if you can't fork out the cash for a fully assembled AR they are a great start to the addiction. There is also very good reasonably priced uppers on the market example Del ton but they have a pretty hefty wait right now. My advice let the tin foil hat wearers calm down and then when the demand lessens pick up your upper or other desired parts. Just My 2 cents take or leave it.

Where, pray tell?

I'd like to get into AR's. I missed it about a month ago, and now most everything is gone. I'm working on getting a Stag lower, but haven't found one yet.

'Roger' that.

The millions of people who are worried about their jobs, retirement fund losses or mortgages appear to comprehend that worrying about large-capacity magazines etc won't help them.
They are unable to see the connection between losing a home and buying a retail AR-15 or AK.

The bizarre idea still baffles me...

All Obama has to do is sign gun-ban legislation when it comes across his desk.
Congress-critters are the ones who have authored and are pushing for this gun ban legislation. The legislation is already drawn up, it just needs to come out of commitee and be brought to the floor for a vote.

Never under-estimate the evil in the heart's of humans.
Especially if their job title begins with the word "congress".

Thought about it, and the rising price of them made it prohibitive. Trying to stay out of the "panic" frey. Thinking seriously though about a semi auto hunting rifle, mainly because I'm feeling more unnerved about grizzley expansion of range in Wyoming. They're seeing evidence of them in areas I used to feel comfortable in.

You're exactly right, Mike U. Those people who feel that Obama has "too much on his plate" right now to worry about gun control don't realize that (1),there is a whole network of people who, as you say, already have the legislation (and, by the way, legislation that will in all likelyhood be filibuster and veto-proof), "drawn up" and ready for signing and that (2), Obama is a left-wing ideologue whose anti-gun agenda is near and dear to his heart. I predict that within the first two months of his reign the AWB will be reenacted; this time with no NRA -inspired "sunset" provision, with far more draconian anti-Second amendment legislation to follow. Get your EBR while the getting's good!

One final thought: basic human rights like those embodied in our Bill of Rights are more important to the future of a free society than jobs or homes or even life itself. Many an American patriot has went to an early, bloody grave with that conviction held dear to his/her heart.

quoteDoes a Hi-Piont 9mm count as an EBR? Its the closest thing that I have.

Been looking for a stripped lower locally here in Arkansas to keep the one I have waiting on a parts kit company, no luck. Want to build a 20 inch and maybe another middy

Hey LionKing. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Any gun that shoots and works as well as that little Hi-Point is a star in my universe.

It is a little ugly.

All the local stores still have some. They may not have a specific brand or setup but they all had at least a handful on the floor.

What I find the most upsetting is that we all act like we expect a ban to happen. The more we expect it the easier it is to be pushed. Im not saying to not prepare for the worst but we still have a voice that can be pushed to those in congress and the white house. It gets more annoying that we have all but given up because of who got elected. It just seems like this buy now while you still can attitude is a defeatist one. Think if every time we bitched online on a forum we sent a letter to our or even other/all congressmen/women about how we feel on the issue. The voice would certainly be loud. I don't want to imply nobody is writing the people they have representing them but for the most part we tend to bitch to ourselves but not to those who have the short term say as to what happens. So please next time you want to post about how awful the president elect is going to be or how easy it is going to be for him to ruin what we care about send a letter to those elected officials that have a say as well. Then not only will you get it off your chest here but you will have done your part to try to keep what we believe in as long as possible.
