Are you a cook? Or a RIFLEMAN?

Can you keep all shots, using surplus ammunition and stock rifles in 4 MOA to 400 yards from unsupported prone? 100 Offhand, 200 sitting?

Do you want too? Could be fun!
The Revolutionary War Veterans Association (www.RWVA.org) was formed as a group of friends interested in preserving and passing on the heritage of rifle marksmanship that is the birthright of all Americans.
Together, we are learning, sharing and preserving the basic skills that, when practiced diligently, lead to safe and accurate rifle use at distances of 500 yards, or more.
Secondly, we are members of the Nation of Riflemen ...
Riflemen stood at Lexington and Concord, repelling the ambitions of a tyrannical government that wished to strip them of their defenses and subjugate them to the will of the King.
At Bunker Hill, Gettysburg, the Marne, the Battle of the Bulge, Pork Chop Hill and other places, remembered or forgotten, iron-willed Riflemen made a stand in the name of Liberty.
That spirit, that dedication to the preservation of Liberty binds all who stand together in its cause as a nation - the Nation of Riflemen.
Join us -
If you are interested in learning to shoot a rifle accurately and you are willing to persist until you do we have experienced shooters who can help.
Our members will teach you and promote your development in the skill of military-style rifle shooting and help you discover the importance of marksmanship in the history of our great nation.
Take YOUR place among us - help preserve and sustain our heritage and, as others have done before us, pass this great nation on to those who follow in our steps
RWVA is launching a nationwide effort to rebuild America as a Nation of Riflemen. Instead of Apple trees, the goal is to plant the Spirit of the Rifleman. It is time once again to sow the seeds of the Tree of Liberty in every town, village and city of America. This is our new Appleseed program. And there is a stop in Southeastern Pennsylvania On September 9 & 10, 2006!
We'll help each other gain the skills and equipment needed to defend our country, if the need arises. With your help, we'll spread the American tradition of practical rifle marksmanship across our great land. We'll work together to find or create the facilities and resources to allow every able and willing citizen to learn to shoot a rifle safely and well close to home.
We will establish again what once stood as the primary protection of our unalienable liberties. Once again, trained citizens will stand ready in every city, town and village across America, equipped and trained to defend their homes, their families and their communities against those who would take away our birthrights.

You can check out the link in the initial post, but for clarity...

ANY RIFLE (non-auto) YOU CAN SHOOT 200 rounds through comfortably.

.50BMG might be a tad expensive, ..and painful.

Most bring something no larger than .308 (M1A, FAL, CETME, SMLE, AK-47, SKS) and many like the .223 (AR-15, etc.) Even .22LR is perfectly acceptable, and CHEAP!

Most of the plan of instruction is done where you can see your holes...at 25 meters (27 yards) with some work (for fun and fact) at the range full distance (100 yards, in this case)

Magazine fed is a plus. We'll work with whatever you got, but the more mags you have to use, the more time you can spend shooting, and less time charging!

Oh, and before I forget, ANY SIGHT/SCOPE is fine, especially for us 'blind' shooters!

free bump for a great program
If you are on the fence, this is a tremendous program and you WILL shoot better for a minimal fee

I attended the Birmingham event and it was great. The amount and quality of instruction offered over the two-day course is substantial, and all for a measley $70.

Well, this event is about one month away.

Chett, from this board, came up today for a "mini" 3 hr program, and from the looks of it, he had a good time.

Zero'd in his "virgin" M1A and shot excellent groups.:)

Can YOU keep 'em all in 4" at 100 yards with irons? Or (the way we train) 1" at 25 meters?

Join us in September in Eastern PA.

Check out www.rwva.org follow the forums link and drill down on the Appleseed program and schedule!

I had an excellent time! Thanks to Pacer for the instruction and advice. Groups got down to how well I could steady the rifle. :)

Pacer, you mentioned a gunsmith (Fred?). Could you please post some contact info. I spent some time at home last night and the M1A will still not reliably chamber from the left side of the magazine. The tip of the round wants to lodge in the begining of the ramp into the chamber and shows no inclination to climb towards the chamber. :( My one USGI mag did not seem to make any difference.

Chetth

That;s him. Address looks correct.

Tell him you were referred through Ernie at Guns and Things

Good luck

Last week before show time.

Not seeing a lot of traffic or interest!

Where else can you go and get to shoot up to 4K rounds in 2 days with coaching and instruction?

Fred's marksmanship guide comes with the $70 tuition. That's less than $6 /hour!

Details and registration can be found at http://www.rwva.org/yabbse/index.php?board=45.0

Registration mailed by Tuesday should be received OK. After that, post a note here and bring it to the door.

Tha't exactly the message I just sent by e-mail yesterday to the RWVA registration address. I realized I had not set my registration in yet and could I phone it in or bring it with me if it was too late to mail. I plan to be there at least Saturday and hopefully Sunday. :)

I also just ordered another 1k rounds :D

I wish I could be there, I know I need the range time. But I spent all of my extra vacation time on the GSSF and IPSC shoots this year. If there are any more shoots, even a mini camp, half day, whatever it is I can try to get there. Wicen's is about 50 miles east of me, but that is not the problem. Need to go to work to pay for my gun habit.

Riss, we'll count you in as an "advance registrant" for next year!:)

I understand the need to pay bills.

Keep in touch

Pacer

Paying the bills is not the issue. I have no more vacation time left. Cannot afford to just blow off work. Otherwise, guaranteed I would be there. If there are any tentative shoots let me know. As long as I'm not shooting IPSC I can be there. Simply did not see the camp early enough this year to take off. I WILL make it a point to make it to one of the clinics.

Well, I have the "last" "mini-applessed" (3-4 hour clinic) scheduled for October 7 at Langhorne Rod and Gun Club, inc. (www.lrgc.org) at 12 Noon.

November is a no schedule due to local hunting season.

We'll start up again not later than the Spring, probably with another 2 day clinic in April or May.

I'm currently working on arrangements to work "inside range" with 22LR rifles through the winter. Let me know if Saturday's or Sunday's work better for you, and I'll let you know if I make this happen. Or would a Thursday night work out?

Pacer

Any day is possible. I work a rotating shift, days of week and hours change every week. So it just depends if I have the days off or have enough vacation. IPSC section 8 shoots on Sunday in my area. Oct 7th I may be able to make. I am off the weekend. And will check to see how far the trip is. Keep in touch on anything in future. I will try to keep a check on the boards for anything coming in future also.
