AR-15 w/ 18" barrel?

Does anyone make an AR-15 variant with a 18" barrel and a full length gas system?
Would losing two inches of barrel affect reliability?
Got to thinking about it today and I think that this barrel length might be a decent compromise.
Since I plan to pick one up when I can afford it I thought I should ask.

I don't know about the gas system, but DPMS lists an 18" AR on their website, as well as an 18" barrel.

I had one, very handy.
Got it by having one of those CAR-A3 flattops cut off.
I still have the rifle but it now wears a 28" barrel for Long Range shooting.

I had one made from a 20" BM hbar, cut to 18" and turned to a medium profile. It's pretty much the perfect AR, IMHO. Accuracy and velocity are outstanding, handles like a carbine, but feels and shoots like a rifle without being front heavy.

Wouldn't trade it for the world, and I'm already busy making a second one just like it.
