Man, if you want to experience greasy cartridges try a box of Norma match .22. They were covered in so much lube it made the rounds so slippery I could hardly load my mags. I had to wipe my hands off on a rag between rounds.
Stay safe.
The good match ammunition is greasy. I always clean my hands after a match. The grease can be a bother as they rounds stick to my fingers. Older rimfire match rifles, such as the Anschutz M54
the loading port is an extreme reach when shooting prone with a sling. Frequently a round sticks to your thumb and forefinger, then flips backwards going in the loading port. Then, because I am stretched out, I have to break position to grasp the round. Breaking position is very bad.
This long reach was true of most of the old 22 match rifles, including the famed Win 52
Too bad BSA never improved their match 22lr
You load the thing right in front of your nose. But like BSA motorcycles, and Truimph/Norton, the rifle manufacturer stopped improving their product and were buried by the competition.
However now, I am seeing rifles like the Bleiker and Feinwerkbau that were designed to load much closer to the face. But they cost above $5,000!
