I have a brand new auto ordnance 1911A1 parkerized PKZ I am have a feeding problem with the firearm I have around a 1000 rounds thru it I had replaced the spring with a 17.5 lb spring the round will slide into the ramp and jam if I tap the slide it will chamber ok these problems are not suppose to happen on a brand new gun . the gun is from Worchester Ma

Any ideas or help is appreciated

Round Not Feeding

Couple suggestions:

Try a diff mag other than the type you are using. Bad mags cause more problems than anything else. Could be the spring in your mag is too weak.

Make sure its properly cleaned and rails oiled.

Try it with standard ball ammo such as Winchester white box from Walmart.

Let us know how you make out.

thats exactly what i did i have 2 mags 1 is the orginal and 1 is a chip mcormick
and thats all i use is wins white box for taget

now it could be the cleaning but it never did it before

i have to try it again

thanks for the reply

Jam:

Going to a heavier recoil spring is not always a good answer. You may solve one problem but find yourself with another.

Start by field stripping your pistol (if you don’t know how, say so and you’ll get some help), remove the barrel and bushing from the slide, and put the slide back on the frame without the recoil spring and plug. Then hand cycle the slide back and forth about 1000 times (not necessarily all in one sitting) to burnish in the rails on the slide and frame.

It may be that you’re problem is being caused by an extractor that is improperly fit or tensioned. Go to our search feature and use the key words, “Tuner” and “extractor” for more insights.

While you’ve got the gun apart, give the barrel – especially the chamber – a good cleaning.

For the time being put the original recoil spring back.

Factory magazines, especially on less expensive guns, are not always so good. Again do a search on “Tuner” plus “magazines” to learn about a possible solution. Also be sure you use 7 not 8 round magazines- at least until you get the feeding situation solved.
