Well, deer season here in the Heart of Dixie is over 'til next Fall.
This was the most up and down season I can remember in forever. The weather was not cooperative...hot and wet... hot and dry.. cold and wet...cold and dry hurricane...tornadoes you name it we had it.
I took three deer in the space of 10 days in the middle of January. Before that didn't EVEN see one. After that didn't see one. Wierd!
The rut turned on and off. I killed a buck in pretty much full rut on Jan. 21. The next day another buck was taken from the same stand that showed no sign of the rut.
It was a most unusual year .
BUT...regardless of the harvest I hunted more this year and enjoyed it more than ever. I think Ijust really like being alone in the woods. No hassles. No BS. Just listening to the quiet as it were.
So until next deer season....I'm going squirrel hunting!
