Bargain Bin AR ???

Probably. I'm thinking about it as I want to build a lightweight beater gun. This looks like just the ticket.

I ordered one the other day. I called and asked if there was enough of a supply for a "hand pick" and was told there is an ample supply. I''ll report back when I recieve it. Just keep in mind though, there is no rear sight or mags. Kinda' antsy to see what I get.

That is cheaper than any AR I could part together. $745 was the lowest I had gotten. The only difference I could tell from the photo is no carring handle and a 4 position buttstock. If I did'nt already have 5 ARs, I would buy one. Looks like a great deal. Please send a pic when it arrives.

I've seen these at CMMG's booth at our local gun shows, they always have a drum full of these.

Cheap internals, but overall they seemed fine to me. I'll not be trading my Bushy in on one, but if you don't have a big budget, I think they'd be fine. They usually have some with A2 style uppers instead of the flat tops, but from the web photo, they appear to all be flat tops with no carry handle or rear sight. Still a bargain!

That looks like a great deal.

offthepaper. Was your phone experience with them good? Were they friendly etc. ?

As a company I have had nothing but fantastic success with CMMG.

I buy all of my FN stuff from them and they are great to do business with.

Actually I've spoke with them on three occasions due to my FFL being kind of slow to fax his '01 to them. I spoke with Linda, who could not have bee nicer or more helpful. I have to admit being almost leary. As another post already states, this is cheaper than you can build your own, so I'm very interested to see what I get. Being a parts rifle (a.k.a. shooter) the real decision of value won't be it's looks, but rather it's functional status. ;)

i have a carry handle from a bushy laying around. one of these might be just the ticket to go under it. give it the Krylon "urban camo" paintjob and viola! fun, cheap, kick-around AR. hhmmmmm. i may have to do just that.

Looks like a good deal.

Just out of curiousity... why would CMMG have so many used lowers from other manufacturers to begin with, from which to build these rifles?

IIRC, CMMG started out as a local parts kit resaler that eventually started making/contracting their own parts. I'm not 100% on that though, so don't take it as gospel.

i have had nothing but good experience with CMMG, but I would definitely not take my chances on this.

it's frankly just silly. if you want a used, beat up doublestar, you can probably get one for less. if you're trying to part together a new cheap gun and not getting close to or under $550, you're just not trying hard enough.

if they let you pick the brand, then fine. if I can't tell them I want a CMMG instead of the crappy DS/DPMS ones, then screw that. I'll keep buying their high-quality new parts, but *** would i want a low-quality gun that's been abused? at that point, you're just two steps away from starting "I h8 teh ARs they arent reliable k? thx" threads.

don't forget... they're AS-IS. no warranty. if it doesn't work, or malfs constantly, etc you're SOL.
