Well, I have a meeting scheduled to meet with BATF this week to open a new gun store. I'm wondering if there are people on here with ideas about what to expect. I'll be meeting her at my storefront.

Is this your initial interview for your FFL application?

If so, all mine entailed was a review of my application to ensure accuracy, an overview of the forms and answering any questions I had. The ATF guy had printed out information from my city regarding home based businesses and was happy to see that I already had my state sales tax permit & IRS EIN number.

Took about forty five minutes.

Wyo, if no one's mentioned it you might want to leave the glocks at home that day

Why would he do that? He's meeting her at HIS storefront, where his carrying is perfectly legal.

I was kidding I guess it didn't come through

I read an old thread of yours last night about an issue W/ a walmart, did you ever get to have your open carry shopping day?

Ahhh, I see. I misunderstood.

As to the open carry day, I was politely informed that we'd all be arrested under the City of Lakewood's open carry ban, even though it goes against state law.

And so what happened, did you cave or did you tell'm to take their ban and stick it?

That might have been good advice, but I decided to go ahead and carry two Glock 29's. I guess I decided quite a long time ago that I would carry where legal most of the time. So I wasn't going to change my habits for the ATF meeting.

The only comment was that I would need to record any personal firearms that I might have on the premises when I get my license which would include carry guns.

Where in laramie is your location going to be? South or north of I-80 and which exit?

It will be on south 3rd Street about a block north of the interstate.

Hope your meeting goes well

Truthfully, the both gals were very nice. One was a trainee.

The only bad news is that she said it could take another 3 months to get my license which is really ridiculous, but she said that they are getting a lot of applications.

wyo, i'll have to stop into your gun store on one of my visits to my old college. I'll probably be out there again next year (hope i remember this lol)

One of the interesting comments that the gal made was that she suggested I not sell guns to "the republic of California."

And here's a government style question. She asked how many guns I was going to be selling each month. I told her that I was taking a wild guess, but around 15,000.

Another interesting topic that she spend a fair amount of time on was the subject of what to do when a firearm is lost/stolen. It was almost like she was saying, "You will lose a lot of firearms, so this is what you need to do every time that happens."

WYOCARP,

The only comment was that I would need to record any personal firearms that I might have on the premises when I get my license which would include carry guns.

That is good advice, if it is not in stock! It is illegal, unless you have as suggested, a separate list of personal guns (and in for repair items) I used to help out a buddy in his gun shop, quite a few years ago, in Ontario Canada.

Be really careful with guns coming in for repair, or trade.

You do all the picking up! When you open the action on more than one "empty, or unloaded gun" and watch a round fly out? You become a wee bit paranoid.

Good luck.

I got my FFL today.

It came today. My FFL that is. It came much quicker than the suggested possible from the ATF agents which was 2 -3 months. And it came much quicker some the seven weeks another member experienced.

Congratulations! Will you be doing internet sales? I need a Taurus MilPro in 380 to round out the collection.
