Beat the high cost of cast bullets

Call him and ask if he can make some! If he can make some .458" 300 & 400gr bullets that are hardcast (for 2400fps) I'd buy some of those too!

I just ordered 1000-.40's and 1000-9MM's from him. I've talked to him a couple times. He says that business is picking up since his name has been spread around several of the forums and that the current pricing is still good.

Ditto. I will be placing an order with him within the next month. If nobody has asked by then, I guess I will. :D

I just loaded up some of Robert's .452" 200gr. SWC for my 1911 and will report back here with results.

Just received my 200gr SWC today from Roberts. Did yours seem overly waxy. Just loaded up 25 with 5 grs. of unique. Will also let you know how they did.

Interested in the reloading results too. I've got some 230 gr .45 RN on the way from Robert, and if the SWC prove favorable, I'll be ordering some of those too.

Looking forward to the update, jahnasman and putteral.

I am just going to throw it out there as some idiot will use this and possibly have a KB with a Glock so in keeping with my belief with preventative medicine;

Don't use this in a Glock.

:)

Not so. For my boat plans web site, I pay $5/month for hosting the web site and use Google Checkout buttons for free (for awhile longer ...then very cheap after that.) With 3rd-party card processing, there's no need for expensive merchant accounts anymore. From the business perspective it's good since you don't have any information that could be abused (no CC info), and from the customer perspective your critical information is held by a large blue-chip corporation ...not a small business owner somewhere. Works for me.

I actually had a conversation with a caster yesterday at the gun show and he was telling me that he didn't take Credit due to the rate the card handlers were charging back to him and it was cutting deeply into the small margin of profit that he got. Especially with the ever increasing price of lead. I picked up 2000 hard cast prelubed .45(230gr) and .380(95gr) for $32 each. He says he charges $10.00 flat rate to hip up to 4 of the 4x4 boxes that hold the 500ct. bullets and it was juat a little more for the larger 4x6 box that some bullets come in.
With the margins that some of these guys are soing bussiness with, it would seem more to me like a money making hobby than a heavy income earning venture. I'll be sending the other guy a check for a couple thousand rounds of something anyway, just to help keep him motivated and in bussiness.

The guy I dealt with was BullsEye Bullets. I made a posting today in the Rate Transaction Section earlier.

Fowling from cast bullets

So do you get a lot of barrel fowling with a cast bullet at 15 hardness?
Thank you:confused:

Not if you keep velocities down. That is why I am interested in both ranges. HARD Cast bullets can lead if shot at Cowboy action/target velocities in the less than 1100fps range. The softer bullets can lead if pushed beyond that.

Luckily even the stoutest "Colt" loads are around 950 or so fps, so it's not like you have to shoot softball loads... if you get a 15 bnh 255gr bullet up to 950 it is ... substantial. Enough to take game for sure.

Just got back from the range. Had no problems with the 200SWC. Worked great and no leading, Will probably buy the 230 RN within the next couple of days.

No, I just used those 2 first. I am also going to try Some titegroup and red dot which I also have. Just ordered 1000 230 Rn from Robert Green. Seems like he is getting low on some stock. He recomends calling or emailing to make sure he has stock on what you need. Can't beat his prices anywhere.
I have looked at just about every website selling cast.

putteral,
I don't think you will like the results you get with Red Dot loading either the 200gr or 230gr bullet for the .45. I suggest you give W231 a try, I'm betting you will like it a lot. It's a very clean and accurate powder for loading many rounds including the .38 Special and the .45.

Well it looks like I missed the boat on this one. Robert is not evening taking orders right now and out of everything in 9mm, .40, and 45. He even shipped out his own privet stash. A great guy, but as I thought cant keep up with the demand with his current prices. A great deal for those that got in on it.

anyone have the guy's e-mail address? that site has been down for the last couple/few days ...
