Can anyone recommend a good quality bench rest that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? I have looked at a lot of them online, and most seem to have mixed reviews. The ones that I have had in the past all turned out to be kinda junky.

what do you mean by bench rest? you mean a whole table? or the thing you put on top of a table?

do you need something portable? can you build it yourself?

i've seen all sorts of contraptions that are set up for truck beds or trailer hitches that cost an arm and a leg and didn't appear all that stable.

most everyone i know that builds a whole table permanently just uses about a dozen cinder blocks in a T-shape, with a wood or concrete t-shaped table on top. definitely stable. definitely not portable.

I was thinking about something that is portable. Kind of like the lead sled. It seems to be the only one that gets consistant good reviews. I was wondering if any of the lower dollar ones are any good. Like Hyskore, Caldwell, etc...

Are there solid benches to rest upon where you shoot?
What are you trying to acheive with your rest? sighting in, groups....
Do you want a one piece or two piece setup?

One or two piece would be fine. I have sturdy benches to shoot from. I am wanting something to sight in some rifles - a couple long range, and a couple hunting rifles. Walkalong, that Caldwell seems to get some good reviews.
