I am about to get an 18.5 in barreled Benelli M1S90.

I see that a 28 inch barrel is also available for $500 (converted from here in the Philippines).

What would be the advantages or disadvantages of the 18.5 vs. 28 inch barrels in a benelli M1S90?

Thanks

Long barrels are regarded as working best for sporting use, hunting and target work.

Short barrels are regarded as more for fighting, though one of mine has a good number of deer to its credit.

The 28" auto is the equivalent of a 32" O/U in total length. More than you need for most things . The 24" is better .I have a 24" on my M1 90 and use it for many things .I think it's the best length.

Thanks guys.

Was thinking about the spare 28in barrel for sporting use, so that my M1S90 is not used only for HD but for clay shooting as well.

My cousin recommended that I just get the optional muzzle break w/ the titanium nitride cylinder choke instead. It will be about a 1/3 of the price of the barrel. He mentioned this would help me use my 18.5in barrel for sporting use and reduce some fot he recoil.
