Beretta Cheetah lifespan?

what is the lifespan of a beretta cheetah model 85f? they seem to be well built, life time lasting pistol if fired in moderation, and a good carry .380, plus IMHO you can't beat how they feel in the hand. just curious as to the life span of my favorite pistol. thanks in advance!

Many semi autos "claim" a lifespan of 20k. Many Beretta 92s easily go up to 60k+. Some make it to over 100k, but typically, with an aluminum frame... One of the rails on the frame break around 60k - on a 92FS.

I would say that with that Cheetah - you should easily get at least 50k out of it, if you change the recoil spring every 3-5k rounds (I'd say every 3k if you really shoot it a lot and want it to last)

The Beretta Cheetah is one very well designed and constructed pistol. I doubt if you will ever have to worry about the actual lifespan of this particular semi-auto.

You'll probably have spent well over $10k on ammo by the time you wear it out. Don't worry about it

a) Beretta (23 years carrying the M9)
b) .380

Gun is way over built for the 380 round. It will out live you and I with proper maintenance.

what is the risk of running a worn-out recoil spring? isn't the worse-case scenario simply a broken recoil spring?

you seem to imply that running a worn-out recoil spring shortens the life of the gun, or wears it excessively. in a non-defensive pistol, is there any reason to fret about the recoil spring until it stops working for you?

On a blowback pistol like the M84/85 Cheetah, the recoil spring is all that is absorbing the energy of the recoil. Well, that and the frame. You run the risk of frame battering if you continue to use a worn our recoil spring.

I have fired 3776 rounds out of my 84F and it just chugs right along. I see no evidence of any problems so I would expect it would last the rest of my lifetime with reasonable care.
