Anyone had one of these? How are they? Are they good guns? How are they size wise? I have a guy offering to trade me one of these for a couple of things I'm tying to sell. He says it's slightly bigger than a LCP, but the pictures I've found online look huge. I'm just wondering if anyone knows the dimensions since I've not seen it in person yet. Would this work as a pocket pistol or would I be better off holding out and waiting for a LCP, or a Sig P238? Also what's the value on this Beretta? He says it's like new and looks unfired, and he will throw in a couple of boxes of ammo.

I have one I bought new in the early 70s. I think I paid about $140.00 for it, and I think it's a fantastic looking gun. It was my first semi auto, and I think I might take it with me.
I haven't shot it much in the last few years, but it was always reliable, accurate, and easy shooting. It's a single stack, single action pistol, so you could carry it cocked and locked. In my opinion it's too big for a pocket gun, and it's quite a bit bigger than an LCP. On the downside, magazines are impossible to find.
You see them on gunbroker every once in a while for around $350.00 to $400.00.

Here's one for you to look at.

Beretta 70's, in my opinion, were the perfect gun...looks and function. I like them better in 32 than in 380, though.

The size is bigger than the LCP but not as big as a Beretta 80 series. Think Bersa or PPK.

My Dad has a Beretta Model 70 in .32ACP, that was the first gun he bought upon returning from Vietnam. It truly is a sweet pistol. The ergonomics are outstanding. Everyone should, at one time in their lives, hold one of these just to feel what it's like to have a gun "melt" into your hand. It has very little recoil and looks like a 1960's Ferrari.

Having said all that, it still has the magazine (and spring) that it came with in the late 60's, so it usually has a few mis-feeds if you are shooting flat nose ammo. It gobbles up round nose no problem.

If Beretta re-made this gun today, and chambered it in 9mm, I'd be the first in line.

They're awesome guns. I have 'em in 22LR (70S and 71), but 22, 32, or 380 they all have a rep for excellent reliability. I usually see them for $350 to $400 for good/like new condition. Forget the ammo, how many factory mags is he including? That would really sweeten the deal on that gun more than a couple boxes of ammo.

I have one in .380. Too large and heavy for a pant's pocket gun but very well made and in my opinion one of the coolest looking pistols around.

I'm assuming he only has one magazine as that's all he has told me about. He told me he has 150 rounds of target ammo and one box of Black Talons to go with it. He is wanting to trade for a rifle I have that I estimate to be worth around $250, and he wants $200 cash. I say the rifle I estimate to be worth around $250, because I've gotten an offer from another guy for $250. I really am liking the looks of this pistol, but I can't decide if I want one bad enough to trade the rifle and cash and I'm not sure if it's worth it.

The Beretta Model 70 is an excellent medium frame size .380 pistol. Great ergonomics, very reliable, and an absolute pleasure to shoot. The downside: spare magazines are hard to come by and will be expensive when you do find them. As to the deal itself: I think $450 ($250 in your rifle in trade and $200 cash), is a little too high, even if it is like new. I would offer $100 in cash and go from there.

If you're really looking for a pocket size .380, you would be better off with a Ruger LCP or SIG P238.

That's guys. $100 cash on my part plus my trade was what I had in mind and offered him. He didn't want to go that low, but counter offered with my trade plus $150 on my part. I thought hard about it and I figured with the ammo included it's probably not a horrible deal, but I decided I just really didn't want it. It seems like a great pistol and I wouldn't mind having it, but I'd rather have something to pocket carry and if I had to throw cash out in addition to my trade, that would get me even further away from having a pocket pistol.
