I just wanted to see what everyone else thought of the Bersa Thunder .380. I have the Bersa Thunder Duotone .380 and have been very impressed by both its reliability and solid craftsmanship. Frankly, I believe that you get quite a bang for your buck for a pistol that only costs $230-280. Thus far, it has had zero failures in 200+ rounds of both factory and reloaded ammunition. Furthermore, I have found the pistol to be very accurate and comfortable to shoot. What do you think?

This is the next gun I have on my list to buy. I keep seeing how everybody is impressed with it. I have a P3AT and I am now set up for 380 reloading and want to add a big brother for my Kel Tec.

I am interested in one of the 15rd ones, but can't seem to find one in person around here.

Keep us posted on how it does.

I considered buying one, but instead opted for a Polish P-64. After shooting one, I'm glad I didn't buy it. It had the worst double-action trigger pull I've ever experienced. Incredibly long. You keep expecting it to break and it doesn't until you start to lose pull strength from pulling too far.

So am I impressed? No. Then again, I'm not really impressed with any of the commercial .380 offerings out there. They all seem to have at least one critical problem.

And you thought the P64 had a good DA pull? It was GREATLY improved when I put a lighter mainspring in mine, but out of the box, that DA SUCKED. It was friggin' unusable.

Long DAs just take getting used to, but I've been shooting revolvers for a LONG time, so I'm sorta used to it. Don't have a Bersa, though, no real need and not really that interested. I do like the P64, but it needed help. Recoil is pretty stout on that thing, too. What is important, too, is DA to SA transition and I haven't gotten that down yet on the P64. The DA is still quite stiff, though I can hit with it, now, and the SA is so light, my double taps occur when I don't want 'em. Far from a perfect gun, but it's unreal accurate. I ain't gonna get rid of it and it is a good pocket carry.

But, hey, this is about the Bersa....sorry.

I shot a friend's a while back and I'm pretty impressed. I'd say it's like an improved Walther PPK.

I have owned 2 for about 10 years now. Was carrying one this evening. I always have one close. Love 'em.

A p-64 owner insulting the DA trigger of... uh... anything? Lol.

(mind you, I own two p-64s)

I think it might be the best bang for your buck in 380
but like some above, I tried it and didn't like the 1st 300 rounds out of it
the trigger thing, me, not the gun, I shoot a "1911" SA type 380, quite different, unwilling to put my limited shooting time into whatever doesn't throw 'em where I want 'em without me retraining me

real nice gun though, good value for the right shooter

Mine was junk. Rear sight came off, trigger return spring broke, and it jammed every magazine so I sold it for a loss. I did like it though.

Sad thing is, the stock P-64 trigger was more pleasant for me than the Bersa's. I did respring my P-64, and I've got the trigger down pat. My honest opinion, though, is that I'd choose any of several 9x18 milsurps over the Bersa, both for trigger and overall quality.

Polish P-64: Same weight, but smaller, and 1 less round capacity
Hungarian PA-63: Same weight, same size, same capacity
Bulgarian Makarov: Same size, heavier, +1 round capacity
CZ-82: Slightly bigger, a fair bit heavier, +5 round capacity

All of these guns are honestly superior to the Bersa, at lower cost and much better quality control and reliability.

Early one I worked on had soft metal in the slide...galled after two or three shots..that was a long time ago. We sell, on the average, one or two a month and none have come back with issues.
What impresses me is how much like a PP it looks and feels for less than half the price.

and the Maks are perfect with no flaws?

Well he finally qualified that statement by noting he had installed some new springs to reduce the trigger pull. The Bersa 380 I owned had a really nice trigger pull. It was also reliable and very accurate. I ended up giving it to my Mother-in-law as a home defense pistol. I own two Makarovs now so I probably won't buy another Bersa but as far as the 380s go I would place the Bersa as one of my favorites.

Mine had some feed issues (first 300 rounds)

when i first bought it a few years ago. I bought an extra magazine for it and if I only use round nose ammo It will never have a jam but when I load any hollow-point it MAY jam.....So just to take out to the range or friends ranch to shoot at bottles or cans its fun.
Would I trust my life with it....hell no....I have a Ruger SP101 by the bed for .....but if I had to I would just load WWB practice ammo and hope I hit something.
I wonder how it compares to the little Walther 380 I see ???anybody have the Wather PK380??

If you wanting a .380, it's a fantastic buy. My BTcc is very accurate, soft shooting, 100% reliable and was priced very well. I like it better then Kel-Tec or Ruger .380s and as well as Walther--even better as a pocket carry weapon.
