I have collected a few, specially in the past couple years.Defining best is hard to do for me.It really depends on the individual rifle since there will be varying degrees of fit and finish since most are surplus.
So far I have 3 Argentine 1909 , 2 Brazilian 1908,Chilean 1895,Venezuelan 24/30,Venezuelan 24/30 target rifle,2 Persian BRNO,Czech 98/22,Turkish,K98,Portuguese Vergueiro 04/39,3 Swedish m96,Swedish m38,2 Yugo 24/47
I think that's it
But all are in excellent condition and I have to say overall South American contract mausers and FN mausers are the best as far as craftmanship, but they tend to be pricy because also. The Persian and Swedes are top notch also.
As far as bang for the buck, the Yugoslavian's are hard to beat,so is a Russian capture K98 if with excellent barrel.
Having shot all of them though, for the most part most of them do 2 to 2-1/2 inch groups @100yds,with some doing 3 or 3 1/2 inches all depending on ammo and how good I shoot at the time.Actually one of my accurate so far has been the Czech 98/22 which isn't that of a expensive rifle to find.
You may have to work the front sight though, either by replacing it or building it up because some do shoot high at 100yds,if you want to get it shooting bulls at that range.
can I post pics?
