Where's the best place to find a barrel for my DSA FAL? I'd prefer an 18"-21" and a good balance between what will be a good shooter without spending a mint.
Some of these FAL barrels cost as much as the hand lapped, top of the line, Lilja match barrel I put on my Rem 700!

So recommendations on what type of barrel (surplus military, US made, etc) and the best place to find it.

Thank you-

Yeah, it was DSA that I was referring to with the barrels that cost more than a Lilja.

I once found a milsurp (think it was Belgian) barrel that I screwed onto a crappy parts gun. It shot groups half the size of this DSA... which is why I'm considering rebarreling.

try recrowning the DSA barrel it may surprise you. Or go to the Falfiles.com

Recrowning would be the simplest and cheapest solution. As long as the rifling is still good, having a messed up muzzle crown would probably be the next major factor affecting accuracy. DSA sells top of the line barrels (with prices to match). Gunpartsguy often has barrels for sale at resonable prices (if they aren't on his webpage give him a email/call for a quote he's a great guy to work with). Also check out the market place on the FALFiles, they often have barrels for sale. If you are handy with a lathe, I have heard of people making FAL barrels out of Rem 700 barrels.

PS. I assume that you have tried different ways to increase accuracy: different ammo, trigger-pull reduction, and removing the handguards (acts like free-floating the barrel).
