Yesterday I had a busy day that turned into a rough day. In the middle of it I broke a Buck Nobleman blade opening a box. Heat treat was trash, obvious flaw in the blade but it had been my daily carry for several years. Time to replace it, but no time to hit the store. I hopped on the snap-on truck at one of my customers shops today (I deliver car parts) to see what they had and I really liked the look and feel of a CRKT squid. I asked about the price, shop owner didn’t miss a beat and said to put it in my pocket, then looked at the snapon driver and said “put that on my account”. It made my day. It’s the little things… and I like little blades for edc purposes. This one seems like a really nice one too.

I’m also a fan of smaller knives. They do most everything I need while being easy to carry and non-threatening.

I like the design of the squid, but my fingers have a tough time holding the handle while using the stud to open. I have been spoiled by the flippers, autos and assisted openers, I guess.

I keep a CRKT Pilar in my desk at home. The hole opener seem to fit small knives well. Switchblades also work well as small knives (as long as they're not over driven).
