I had ordered a revolver from JoeSalter.com last week and it arrived today. You can tell by the picture that it is Not New-In-Box (1st picture, lower revolver) and at $185 it was a bargain. It's a real S&W knock-off made by Garate Anitua y Cia in Eibar, Spain. It's a .32-20 and will make a good companion piece to my Trocaola Aranzabal Y Cia .38 Special revolver...also a S&W knock-off that offers the flexibility in ammo per the instructions on the barrel: "BEST AMERICAN CARTRIDGES ARE THOSE THAT FIT BEST" (1st picture, upper revolver). I intend to have a someone I don't know too well to test fire these with some Cowboy Action cartridges or black powder cartridges if I can find them.
While I was at the gun store to pick up the gun from my FFL guy I noticed another new pistol in his display case. It was also NNIB and he only wanted $125. I got it cheap because there was a magazine stuck in the grip that was missing its floorplate. It took 10 seconds to brutally remove it with my Swiss Army knife. Handy, those Swiss Army knives.
At first glance I wasn't sure if it was a CZ 24 or CZ 27. The dealer wasn't sure either. I didn't already have a CZ 24 but did have a CZ 27 (WWII Modell 27) with spare magazines so either way it would fit my collection as something new or something redundant. You can tell by the picture that it has been around the block. It's the lower pistol in the 2nd picture. It was made in 1948...my birth year. The upper gun is my WWII CZ 27. The new pistol turned out to be a CZ 27 so I am spared having to buy more magazines. My own rule used to be "5 mags minimum per gun". At $33 per mag for CZ 27's I have flexed this rule to "5 mags minimum per gun type. This may help in stealthing the purchase of two handguns from the wife. It can't hurt.
Any day you buy two handguns is a banner day. Today was such a day...two handguns for $310 (less tax, S&H, FFL fee and call-in). $310 will only get you a third of an old used Kimber Custom II TLE with their crummy MIM parts.
How'd I do?
