My sons and I ordered some full pistol kits (AR pistol = AR rifle) to build out some 80% lower receivers from Ground Zero Precision. Here is a short list of what I liked about them and what I didn't like.

Likes:
  • Critical components fitted well and ran as smoothly as one would expect for newly manufactured parts
  • Barrel / Receiver fit is very tight... almost too tight which is perfect
  • Perfect function with clean ejections. All brass landed in a two foot circle eight feet to right of standing shooter
  • nice, clean appearance
  • hand written note from Ashley who packed the kit

Dislike:
  • 30 days for my order to come in, 39 days for the boys
  • Had to find the owner's name and phone through BBB
  • Customer service sucks. They never returned a call and returned only one of three emails
  • Free floating handguard had clamp screws that were too short resulting in stripped threads
  • Handguard set screws are intended to set into rounded grooves on the barrel nut. They were however placed too far to the rear catching the rear of the grooves forcing the handguard away from the receiver as they were tightened and required some file work on barrel nut to fix
  • No torque values were given for handguard hardware
  • One castle nut had severely deformed threads and the packer knew it. Nut was screwed onto the buffer tube until it jammed and shipped like that
  • Quick disconnect sling sockets are out of spec. Locking balls can not deploy inside socket and the swivel just pops out.

Each of these deficiencies, except the customer service, can be easily corrected by the buyer with a file, and a couple of 3/4 inch 10/32 socket head screws.

Customer service = F
Handguard quality = F, required rework
Overall quality = A-
