Hey all, in one week im turning 21. I decided on the FNP-9 as my 1st gun.
The shop told me "the price i see displayed is the price i pay."

Im just wondering if that is what usually goes. Its listed at 470.00 or something, so not toooo bad....but i just dont want to be "taken". From the reseach ive done, thats only a little bit more than if i were to buy online, but there is a 40 dollar transfer fee that i would have to pay anyway if i did buy online and get it sent there. So either way looks like thats what im paying, since its 430 online.

Is that about normal? Or what to expect with gun places?

Also, does anyone know what kind of warranties FN herstal has on their guns? I forgot to ask while i was there, and i couldnt find any info on the FN website.

Thanks!!!

I strongly considered purchasing this pistol, but in the end I ended up with a Glock 19. Why? The ruggedness of the finish on the slide and barrel, the large supply and selection of accessories, a local Glock Armorer, and the gun's reputation.

The Glock shoots very well. I did not have the opportunity to shoot the FN.

Both pistols felt good in my hand and for a while I leaned toward the FN, but I figured this: In the event of a needed repair, I felt that turn-around time to have the Glock repaired would be faster.

From what I have seen and read, the price you have found seems reasonable.

As for the warranty, I do not know. I have the FN catalog in front of me and do not see a reference to it; however, their commercial phone number is: 703.288.1292. You can e-mail them: [email protected]

Best of luck with your decision. Who knows, in a year or so, I may turn around and sell the Glock and buy the FN.

For $450 I would consider a Glock, CZ75, Ruger P series, Taurus 92, S&W 59 series.....
There might not be anything wrong with FNP-9, but its hasn't been around long enough to know its merit or weakness. At least the ones I listed are known to be of sound designs and can be had for that price or even less.
But its your call...

I am not trying to highjack this thread, but where can you buy a Glock for 450? They are pushing 600 here where I live.

By the way, I am looking at the FN as well. I like the way it looks and the DA is more to my liking. But, who knows what I will end up with. Decissions, decissions, decissions....

The FN 9 and Browning Pro 9 are great looking pistols. I may still end up with one (if I can find a way to sneak it in the house without my wife noticing). The FN has a decocker and (as I understand it) the Browning has a safety. I have yet to see this model Browning in a store.

Here in Cumming, Georgia (twenty miles north of Atlanta), a new Glock runs about $475 - 499.

gotime242,

Also, have you considered looking at a Steyr? A very interesting pistol (and it's quickly picking up popularity).

FNP-9m

I got a quote for one at $480 today that the gun shop here. I have decided that the FNP-9 will be my first autoloader. I like the feel, weight, and the decock. The Browning is the same gun, just $80 more, both made in the same place.

I believe theres another on on ar15.com thats $325 shipped.
look around.
I wouldnt pay more than $400 for a new one; they can be had for cheap on the web.

You made a great choice .i bought an fn p9 a year ago just on the way it felt and looked .mine had the black frame and the black slide with hammer dcock and take downs being stainless. wow that was a great gun.My first day on the range i thought i dont expect much if it jams ill just sell it.Oh boy was i wrong i must have fired 500 rounds that day and i was more impressed by that then the hk i just bought a few months before. The grip was comfortable and very fitting the sights were nice and tight the way i like them and the way it fired was so accurate. it was amazing. But of course being the good friend that i am i sold it to a buddy of mine who fell in love with it as well he is into older guns so i was supprised when he said he wanted one.I have already owned a few 9s so i said why not.IMPORTANT the fnp9 i bought here in new mexico was 429.00 i sold it for 375.00 and now that european law enforcement agencies got contracts with fn the price over here is around 550.00 the browning p9 stainless is around 600.00.Another thing it will be hard to find a holster but the fobus for the sringfield xd fits almost flush. good luck! happy birthday
