looking to pick up ak-47 or preferbly an aks-47, under folding stock. i would really like to find a russian red made unit. also open to other suggestions with explanations. please and thank you.

p.s.- possibly an ak74, but know eve less about them. anything is appreciated.

Well, what are you wanting? Be forewarned, accuracy on an AK can vary from 1-7 MOA. The 74 is chambered in 5.45 as opposed to the 7.62. The honest to God Russian made, are way more expensive and hard to come by to the best of my knowledge. There's a lot of AK fellas on here way better versed in that subject than I am. I'm sure you'll get a reply shortly that's more informative.

(pasted from a similar thread yesterday)
"This is asked and answered so freqently now, you don't even have to use the search function, just scroll back through the "rifle" section and read to your hearts content. I imagine it'll be well covered on every single page".

Get a Yugo. Well built, reliable, reasonably cheap. www.classisarms.com
+1

However, make sure you send him to the right address, it'll be www.classicarms.us

Ben over at Classic Arms has been having trouble keeping his AKs in stock, so if you are looking for a Yugo underfolder, J&G sales have them for $500, you used to be able to get them for about $420 but it appears the supply is starting to dry up, hence Ben's low or non-existent inventory. I'd call SOG and Century first before I ordered from J&G, as they may have some in stock and charge less than J&G.

FYI , we are getting a new shipment of YUGO M70 Under Folder rifles built off of 100 % New Virgin parts kits on DCI rec , we hope to see these in about 7 days they are not the Century Arms units.

are the different versions made by the different manufacturers mostly the same? are there different manufacturers i should be wary of? are the models from Lancaster Consulting different than say the yugo models?

Lancaster could make Yugo AKs.

You have to keep in mind that all these AKs came into the country with their middle part missing (as "parts kits").

Lancaster (and many others) purchased these parts and are now selling complete rifles made from them.

There are kits here from Romania, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland and a few more.

It is up to the US based jobber to do a good job putting them back together.

Our Yugo M70 rifle are being contract built for us by Vector Arms , they are built on new virgin parts kits backed up by Vectors 5 year warranty.
